Another Machine Feature - may be common knowledge

The thread on touching the credit display to toggle between credits
and cash made me think of another "basic" machine feature which, from
my observations of fellow players in the casino, I think not everyone
knows.

One of the first things I learned (maybe by accident!) on my way to
playing video poker faster was that you do NOT have to sit and wait
for the machine to add your winning hand credits to the credit total
at it's regular, usually slow, speed.

If you instead press the Deal button, ZOOM, all the winning hand
credits are added to your total in that 1 second. This can save you
precious seconds, especially on hands like full house, quads, wild
royals, etc. It also cuts down on the noises your machine belches out
at you and your neighboring players.

My fingers are 'programmed' to hit that deal button in the second
after the draw comes in for every hand. If I got no payoff, the new
hand comes up. If I got any payoff, I have to press the Deal button a
second time to get a new hand.

If there's a hand like quads that you want to linger over and admire,
well you just don't hit the deal button that 2nd time. Slam on your
fingers' brakes.

You say you are trying to impress your neighbors about how many good
hands you are getting by letting the 10 seconds of credit counting
chirp away? Sheesh, grow up. They aren't impressed, in fact they
resent your noise pollution. And, if I'm your neighbor, I'm thinking a
lot less of your skill because I figure you don't know how to speed up
the credits addition.

This actually applies to most new slot machines too. I have a feeling
some folks are afraid to try this because they fear their additional
credits won won't rack-up on the total if they touch any buttons and
short-cut the full "song".

Oh, and I know this feature probably doesn't apply to most older
machines, coin-droppers for example.

If you never knew this trick, try it. Otherwise you'll never get up to
the 15-20 hands per minute possible on the faster machines.

Cheers!

One thing to watch out for with this is if you are playing less than
the max total coins (i.e. playing 10 coins on a 1-100 coin machine).

If you are doing this be very careful not to hit the MAX BET button
instead of the deal button. I learned this the hard way.
