I picked up another nice gift from Greektown yesterday. It was black,
fairly thick, "American made" blanket with the GT logo on it, of
course. The sent me a card last month to come and pick it up on that
day only. Dolores didn't get one.
They've already sent me another one for a heated windshield ice
scraper for November. Greektown tries harder to keep their patrons,
unlike the other two casinos in Detroit. Now, if they could only do
something about the high smoke levels in the place.
What they really need is a "VP PAPPY PLAYER'S PICK'EM POKER PAD." A
room just for non-smoking, Pick'Em poker players who are not into
getting their clothes smelling like an ash tray.
I was on a five-trip-in-a-row winning streak before yesterday, (MGM &
GT) but alas, all good things must come to an end. I dropped about
$300, but I'm still up for this year playing mostly Pick'Em.

PS: My new poker book is coming along, I'm up to about 50 pages with
about 500 poker tips and poker quotes so far. It's everything I've
ever learned about playing Texas Hold'em poker. If I can't find a
publisher, no big deal, I just like to have some project going all
the time. A little bit of it:

player." Nick the Greek

Number #1 Strategy: When in doubt fold!
In no particular order and repeats of the same concept stated over
again in a different way:
*To call a hand, you must have what you think to be a better hand
than the person raising, or what you would raise with yourself. Read
this over a couple of times until it sinks in.
*Play fewer hands. If you crave action, play video poker instead.

"You could make lots of money quite easily if you could call "time
out" and concentrate for several hours before making a decision.
Unfortunately, poker doesn't work that way."
--Mike Caro, Caro's Fundamental Secrets of winning Poker

*Position, position, position. Playing a fair hand in a bad position
is not a good play.
*Patience, patience, patience. Wait for those fair to good hands
before committing chips.
*Discipline, discipline, discipline. You must force yourself to wait
for a decent hand and then make the correct play.
*Aggression, aggression, aggression. You must be aggressive with your
best hands. Don't let'em stay cheap!
*Just because you have money in the pot doesn't mean you should throw
more money into it when you have a fairly good idea that you are
beaten. Don't chase!
*Calling big bets with marginal hands with none or very few outs is
one of the biggest mistakes you can make.
*Play small pairs and small suited connectors in late position and
only if it's cheap.
