As for trolls, dolls, icons etc., I have only seen this in
association with blue-haired ladies and Bingo games, I hope you
haven't given some superstitious vp players a new idea.
Now, now, i go to no casino without my lucky "blue dot", a four leaf clover
and a lucky penny.

Lucky pennies, 4 leaf clovers, etc. are in
an entirely different category than Trolls & Dolls (though, I guess
they could be considered icons). Just ask me, who would NEVER play
without having the following in my possesion:
A. A gold 4-leaf clover, on a chain*
B. A small crystal ball, on a chain*
C. A $2.00 bill (part of a larger win, from the racetrack)
*gifts from my mother who always wished me the best!

He then consulted various Bible verses or something to determine
what cards to hold.
While I was watching him, he cornered another player and proceded to
try an explain his system to him. He talked for about 20 minutes
and maybe played 4 or so hands. Each card that came up had some
religious meaning to him regardless if he hit a winning hand or not.
Needless to say, I cannot relate his system, but I sure felt sorry
for the fellow whoses ear he was bending. When the fellow left, I
thought that I might be next for recrutement. But no, he just went
on playing a few more hands, continuing to consult his Bible verses.
He seemed to either have run out of money or was off to pursue some
other victim or something. Anyway he left.

Hmmm. But it was said that he lost the games despite invoking the name
of 'Jesus'; isn't that a classic example of 'invoking the Lord's name
_in_vain_?
