Analyzing One Eyed Jacks

There has been some talk recently of being able to practice, play, and
analyze One-Eyed Jacks (OEJ).

I found a program on my computer that I have had (but haven't used)
for a while called vipoker that you can use to practice and analyze
OEJ. The analysis isn't close to being as fast as Winpoker, but the
look and feel are similar (though definitely not the same). You
certainly can't beat the price (FREE).

The game has a very robust game definition module to analyze games and
you can use it to analyze a lot of wild card and joker games.

Take this advice FWIW--I don't analyze games regularly, but I ran a
paytable for OEJ (Chicago version) and it matched the Wizard of Odds'
return calculation.

The game is available at:

Wow, and the price is right! Where did you ever find that?

If you search the message archive, somebody (djcosmo) mentioned it way

completely forgot it was just sitting there on my hard drive -- it
doesn't install a program group, so you have to start it from the
executable file if you don't add your own program group.

If you search the message archive, somebody (djcosmo) mentioned it

way

back in 2004. I may have had it earlier than that though. I
completely forgot it was just sitting there on my hard drive -- it
doesn't install a program group, so you have to start it from the
executable file if you don't add your own program group.

Have just had a chance to play with it a little, VERY IMPRESSED.

I just installed an icon on desktop to start it, not sure what that
means in computereese, but it works for me.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
