This is because four aces plus a low card (2, 3 or 4) pays five times as
much (4000 for 5) as four aces without a low card (800 for 5). Even
considering that you might draw ace+low the single card hold is much more
valuable. Ditto for three 2s, 3s or 4s plus a kicker in Triple Double
Bonus. This is a relatively new version of video poker (about 3 or 4 years
old).
In Bonus deuces you hold an ace with two or more deuces not only because
four deuces + ace pays twice what four deuces with no ace pays but five
aces is a valuable hand. (This is a default game in Winpoker.)
In full pay (25-12) double bonus deuces you sometimes hold an ace with one
deuce (as well as with 2 or more deuces). In that particular game five aces
pays 800 for 5 and is thus a very valuable hand.

.I'm a newbie to Video Poker ..... recently purchased the "WinPoker"
software
by
Bob Dancer as well as a video tape and two books. In the meantime however, I can't understand why to keep the 2 'kicker'
with
ยทยทยท
three 'aces'. Is it because paring the 2 or the 'x' card for a full
house is more
likely than hitting the one remaining 'ace' ... ? But then, why the 2 and
not the 'x' card (which was a 6).Thanks for any help,
Russell
