An AP question

As a casual player I am curious just how to become an AP. I have read many times that you play when the multipliers/promos are available. Yet, if you play ONLY on these days they 86 you, or they punish you by reducing bounce back or other promos. If you try to conceal your play by playing slots aren't you giving away that small percentage you vied for in the beginning? What's the secret?

Many thanks, Rod...........

I look forward to what others will offer up on this topic. I can only reply with some speculative thoughts ...

While I understand there are some exceptionsl cases of such player cutbacks, particularly a few widespread actions taken when management either takes a little heat or just wake up feeling a little paranoid, generally speaking I sense that such measures occor pretty infrequently ... And in those cases the targeted individuals have targeted themselves by engaging in play that clearly singles themselves out from the crowd.

This may involve play consistent play volume well above the mean, promotional redemptions similarly strong, an inordinate success rate in claiming drawing winnings, etc. If your play is such that it draws attention to the possibility that you might be playing with an advantage over the casino, you need to be prepared for the possibility of countermeasures, and may wish to lower your profile a bit.

As far as notions that 15 minutes of slot play each trip might camoflage the general nature of your play, I personally don't subscribe. I personally don't find it crdible that a small blip on the radar is going to fool anyone. (And as you note, greater play quickly comes at significant ER cost.)

Still, others who I greatly respect do buy on to this. (I'll let you know the day I'm shown the door and they're still playing.)

Theres no substitute for some serious knowledge of the mathematics of gambling-and making correct decisions based on the math. I think this is the one area that all the very best AP's have in common. They don't have to play follow the leader. They cut their own trail. They find plays the average AP doesn't.

In the forward to his book "A Brief History of Time" Stephen Hawking stated he was told by other astro-physicists that if he put one equation in the book it would cut sales in half. That's a reality I think video poker writer/theorists also face.

I think there is suffecient information out there that a person can do fine without in-depth knowledge of the math. But the very very best AP's are gambling math professionals from hell.
