American Casino Guide draft VP article-help requested

Hi Jean

Good points, especially regarding Biloxi (I had heard of some very strong plays there, but that is likely ancient history, Katrina or not).

As per Vegas VP, I'm factoring in how awful the bulk of the Strip's machines are. Entire casinos are now filled 6/5 bonus and 7/5 JoB. While those dregs are largely irrelevant to anyone on this forum (it doesn't really matter if it's 9/5 JoB or 7/5 JoB; we're not playing either one), I hate to give the novice the notion that in general, Vegas gives a good gamble.

On the other hand, I haven't actually been to Reno in about 5 years. Do they now feature oodles of 97% payback machines as well?

Thanks for the feedback!

John

John - I'd have to disagree with your second sentence. Even before Katrina,
the good VP plays in Biloxi were limited. I know Laughlin has some good
plays, but not nearly as many, in my opinion, as in Vegas. Reno - maybe
better - but not strongly so.

Of course, I am looking at the whole VP PLAY possibilities, for all kinds of
players at all denominations. You say you are targeting novice players in
your explanation to us, but you do mention quarter and dollar players in
your article. So if you are including dollar players too, I think the Strip
is still a strong play for them. (And if you wanted to include higher level
players, Luxor has 9/6 JoB in multi-line and single line at $5 and above.)

Perhaps you could qualify that first paragraph? I would say something about
the fact that although the number of high-return VP machine has gone down
over the years, the increasing competition has increased the number of mail
offers and promotions. So I would still consider Vegas the Mecca for the
VP player who is looking for the best value just because of the sheer number
of casinos to choose from.

Just my opinion, of course.

That's right. Biloxi's VP opportunities had been slowly drying up over a
long period of time.

Katrina, very efficiently, finished the job.

As a visitor and gambler in Reno/Laughlin/Las Vegas, I would say that
percentage wise overall, you will find better VP in Reno and Laughlin
over Las Vegas. Yes, you can find 97% payback machines in Reno and
Laughlin, but for the tourist (who you are writing to) it is much
easier to find full pay VP in places the average tourist would
patronize.

On the other hand, I haven't actually been to Reno in about 5 years.
