Alaska Cruise

Ziplining is something new I guess since I have been to Alaska. So sorry no info on that but I would like to tell you about two of the most memorable experiences I had on an Alaska cruise.

One was an excursion to the University of Alaska in Juneau. This was 15 or so years ago but there is a historic chapel on the campus and the view from inside over the trees and with Mendenhall Glacier in the background is something I'll never forget. It was also one of those "if these walls could talk" moments. Maybe it was just me but I will never forget how I felt there.

The other was in Ketchikan. Now Ketchikan is actually in a rain forest but we (wife and son and I) happened to be there on a bright sunny day. We just walked a short distance into town and after crossing a small bridge from which we could see salmon jumping we came across a small park. The air was so cool and clear and there were maybe a dozen or so young children playing in the park. The kids just sounded so happy and the sound of them playing was so idyllic. That was another "moment" for me. I can imagine though they didn't see too many sunny summer days in an Alaskan rain forest.

Enjoy.
