Spice Buffet at Aladdin has moved to 2nd floor and they've removed some of
the items (specifically Middle Eastern). I didn't eat there - don't know if it
is still as good. I think this is the new permanent location.
Aladdin has major construction inside and out. They have some slot machines
on 2nd floor now. $1 9/6 JB no longer in high roller room (has been gone
awhile).
Harrahs $1 9/6 - 2 machines are still there - sort of across from Buffet.
Harrah's $1 MILLION IN THE BAG promotion. Sign up for a new card, get a
ToteBag with gift. Earn 50 Base Points in a single day and get a WINFINDER and
$5 Macy's shopping card daily Noon to 5pm. The Windfinder may light up with
15 minutes giving you a prize. Only 1 WinFinder and $5 Macys shopping card
per day at each property. So you can do this at Caesars, Paris, Bally's, Rio,
Harrah's, and Flamingo each day - but must earn 50 points at any property
after midnight (I think) on that day to get the WinFinder and Macy's card. You
earn entries each day to participate in a big drawing on Dec. 3, 2006 in Las
Vegas.
Palms Scratch Card - everyone is complaining. I suggest we write or fax in
a complaint. Fill out those comment cards! Today medium line for scratch;
but you could also scratch at Slot Club booth. Gifts I saw were Mystery Gift
(bad - I got one and couldn't even figure out what it was! - on the order of
caps and such); $25 free play, 1000 points (value about $2), 400 points,
1000 points, 4X points, 4X points, $10 free play, Free ice cream cone, 1000
points.
That gives you some idea.
Scratch guy said biggest thing he saw was $75 Little Buddah meal.
People in line all reported that their mailings were cut way down.
Apparently no coupons for meals were issued this month - instead they are part of
scratch card! (so if you don't scratch you don't get the dinner!). Meal
coupons if won can be used for a week. People were told free play was available
immediately (I don't know if this is true).
My card is already getting scratches on it from being carried in my
purse! Will this disqualify me? WRITE AND COMPLAIN (if you still play at Palms,
that is).
Vegas construction: Project City Center can now be seen rising from site
of old Boardwalk. 2nd Panorma Tower looks to be topping out. Palms 2nd
Tower is now almost finished -- PLAYBOY CLUB opens Oct. 5 & 6 (how does it open
on 2 days?). I find the PALMS signs annoying - one is vertical and one is
horizontal; they are different colors; also the 2 Towers don't look alike. Not
architecturally soothing to my mind. 3rd Condo tower is rising. Palazzo
Tower (add on hotel-casino for Venetian on corner of Sprint Mt.) is rising
rapidly.
Rumors: Palms buffet to close for 2 months. It is unclear whether it will
reopen as a merger of the 2 sides or if an entirely new buffet will open.
For all the construction on this thing, this is one slow project! And
probably won't be that much different when it finally opens again.
Closed: I saw Clint Holmes last show. What a terrific performer! The
Newspaper indicates he was forced out because Harrah's was economizing. His
piano player/musical director Bill Fain will be in a group called "The 4 Vegas
Tenors" apparently performing Monday nights at Suncoast?? Holmes says he is
heading to Broadway - unlcear what the timeframe is - presumably the show he
co-wrote about his life will eventually show up on Broadway (with him as
star?). Holmes introduced his new girlfriend, performer Kelly (Preston?) who
worked with him on that morning Vegas TV show. His band has been performing

Opening: Rita Rutner will be Holmes's replacement at Harrahs Vegas. No
word if Diamond members will get free tickets or not.
