Airport to Palms taxi charge , not consistent

about 11 pm in evening, cab fare from airport $30

about 11pm evening, cab fare to airport $19.80

Same time at nite, yet 50% more $$.

$30 guy he rook me “best way”, after I ask about circling thru a maze of highway ramps. Tuesday arrival.

$19,80 guy went through strip and was cheaper. Wednesday depart . Very friendly too.

What is best route to Palms?

How do we use Uber? Is it cheaper or better.

How much do we tip cab driver?

How much do we tip rent a car pick up driver, for enterprise, couple blocks away?

The most direct route would be Up Swenson to Paradise and then across Flamingo.
You got long hauled by the $30 driver. This is a very common practice by Las Vegas Cabbies.
I would never get in a Las Vegas cab again.
My last trip I used Uber and Lyft and was extremely pleased with the results.
Generally speaking they were half the cost of a cab.

With Uber or Lyft you download the App set up your account with a credit card and then you just tell it where you
want to go and it will assign a driver and tell you how much and how long and will give you the name of the driver and their picture and the licence plate number of their vehicle.

Tip all drivers what you think they are worth. I usually give 15% if they are nice and helpful.
I never tip a driver from a rental outfit.
Regards
A.P.

Their longhaul trick is to go south from the airport to I-215, then west to I-15, then north to the strip. This easily doubles the distance to the Palms or the strip properties. Depending on which property you are going to, just telling them to go north to Tropicana or Flamingo then over to the strip will save you a lot of money.

Sad to say I just accepted this scam as a flight from Boston to Las Vegas the last thing I want to do is argue with a cabbie.

I agree UBER or LYFT is the only honest fair way to go.

I feel bad for the honest cabbies as they get cheated in the long run.

Anytime they take you via the expressway they are long-hauling you and the fare will be up to double take the streets directly. Also, most direct way to Palms (and Rio) (depending where you are leaving from), is to go across the freeway to Dean Martin road, then it to Flamingo, turn left and you are there, or directly to Flamingo, turn left and you are there.

Good info.

I instructed cabby , “Take us to Palms”. Once seeing the ramps & highway, I asked why. Driver answer, “I’m going best & fastest.” Didn’t like it , but what can ya do? Tip $3. Too much I thought, but as I grow older I don’t stiff anyone, even if service is bad. I do “adjust” tips as to service.

The $19.80 guy instructions; "airport. Real friendly. I short trip I know he lived in Jersey, Las Angeles and Vegas last 10 years. He asked where we from, you have good trip etc.? Short enjoyable cordial talk.

His tip, a fin. ( $5) He thanked very very much.

I’m gonna try Uber & Lyft.

Rental pick up, older guy, $2.00 tip. Drop off, young person probably clean up boy, $2.00 tip. My thought,

I tip a buck for a single coffee at the casino. The rental guys, I say, “You have a soda on me.” Both appreciative . Also, spending 8 days in gambling joints, I “kind of believe” good thoughts from others may enhance the luck destined to me. Key words " ‘kind of believe,’ "

ALBERT & ALL, THANKS FOR INFO … Jeep

Jeeps, as to “what can you do”: If you’re willing to take a little time for constructive action, you note what info you can glean from displayed cabbie license, as well as cab # and/or license plate # upon exiting the taxi. Then submit the following form to NV taxicab authority:
