McCarren airport security lines are running 2-3 (perhaps even longer) delays
today (Thurs) due to the increased security. Passengers are advised to
arrive at the airport at least 3 hours early to ensure making flights (although
airlines are saying 2hrs - live TV reports indicate that isn't enough time
today). Liquids are prohibited from hand luggage -- that includes bottled
water, shampoo, hair gets, toothpaste, any gels or liquid. Exceptions are baby
formula and medicine.
Passengers probably can save time by checking as much as possible, instead
of bringing hand luggage.
The same situation probably is occurring in airports around the country, so
if you are flying in the next few days you should:
1. Check to make sure your flight is not delayed/cancelled
2. Pack liquids and gels in check luggage.
3. Be prepared for long delays at airport and arrive 2-3 hours early to
avoid possibility of missing flights.
4. Keep abreast of news to see if airline restrictions change.
