I was wondering; has any of you noticed a big increase in other

***Southwest Airlines will begin service out of Pittsburgh in May.
Hopefully they will bring the prices to Vegas down.

I've found that the following 3 aggregators find the cheapest rates,
particularly more than 21 days in advance. Try it and see what you
get;
www.Mobissimo.com
www.Qixo.com or
www.Kayak.com
It's the only time I've seen rates like the $129 above. I think
these are very limited seats that sell out early.

Southwest Announces Pittsburgh Flights
By CHARLES SHEEHAN, Associated Press Writer
IMPERIAL, Pa. Southwest Airlines will begin offering 10 nonstop
daily flights to four cities from Pittsburgh International Airport in
May, a year after once dominant US Airways Group announced it was
reducing service at the airport.
Dallas-based Southwest will fly from Pittsburgh to four of its
strongest markets -- Chicago, Philadelphia, Orlando, Fla., and Las
Vegas [$99.00 to Las Vegas] -- starting May 4. The airline will offer
$29 one-way fares to Philadelphia International and Chicago Midway
airports through May 26.
In May 2004, Pittsburgh's then-dominant carrier, Arlington, Va.-based
US Airways Group Inc., said Pittsburgh would no longer be a hub and
service would be reduced. Instead, the airport would be a "focus
city."
It took Southwest less than two months to announce it was moving in
When in a citry dominated by one air airline that is also a hub (Pittsburgh major US hub/Cincinnati major Delta/Comair Hub) their is little competition and the otjher carriers have very few flights to vegas thus higher fares.

Fare's are also real high from Philadelphia now. I'm looking into a trip for November or December, and most airline's want nearly 400 buck's. We paid $158 for our trip last fall.

PIT is no longer a USAir hub, having been dropped as part of the
cost-cutting effort at that troubled carrier. Besides, ticket
prices at PIT are already much lower than formerly. I'm not sure
what the original poster had in mind when he cited PIT for high
airfares, but that's just not the case. Air Tran has been operating
from several gates there for quite a while which has caused rates to
drop dramatically. My brother-in-law just booked PIT/LAS yesterday
for about $210 rt. That's not a high fare to me.
