In the Chicago Area about a year ago, the local newspapers published the
amount fed through Las Vegas slots (from her slot club cards) of Betty Loren
Maltese. She was the mayor of Cicero IL and she and her mob cronies skimmed
about $11 MM from the town. They showed about $18 MM of slot play (looked mostly
like $5 machines) over about 20 months. This was primarily used to refute
the claim that she was spending most of her time with her child. She lost
custody and got about eight years in jail.
Played mostly at the Flamingo and Rampart as I recall. I guess she wasn't a
VP player.
