advantage player

I have seen advantage player refer to players who play games that are over 100% EV. I have also seen it defined as players who take advantage of casino mistakes. These casino mistakes are over paying machines, nickel machines that are really filled with quarters, quarter machines paying cashback like dollars machines, etc.

The two groups are different. Group A engages in legal activity. Group B activity is less clear cut.

If you make a mistake does the casino take advantage of it?

So if the casino makes a mistake why shouldnt we take advantage of
it?

Does the casino really take advantage of players mistakes? They
offer a game to the public we can play or not play. They sell us
entertainment. You understand the proposition better than the vast
majority of players. The machine they let people play operates in a
certain fashion. No one is sitting in the back room delighted when
we make mistakes. To me personally intentionally expoiting casino
mistakes is akin to getting back too much change and not returning
it. If you are aware of the mistake and exploit it ... fill in the
blank.

John,

I'm afraid I have to disagree with you on the cashback argument. I
have been in plenty of casinos where some of the VP machines pay
twice as much cashback as most of the other VP machines. Is this a
mistake by the casino, or is it intentional? Often this situation
occurs with VP games contained within multi-game machines that also
have slot games. The machine is set to pay cashback at the slot
machine rate, even though it may contain one or two VP games. I
would argue that this IS probably intentional on the part of the
casino. So if you find a VP machine that pays 2x, or even 10x the
normal cashback rate, who's to say whether or not it is a mistake?
Maybe the casino just felt like being generous on a particular
machine. How is this any different than finding and playing a 10/7
double bonus game in the middle of a long row of 9/7 DB machines?
Heck, it's not my job to be the slot director, I'm just there to play
the best game I can find.
