Hi Gang:
After staying and playing almost exclusively at Harrah's for the past six
months or so, Hedy and I made a return visit to the Borgata this past weekend
to take advantage of the 5X cashback promotion the Borg has extended through
the month of November.
We were surprised to see that the multi-strike inventory of machines with
9/6 JOB has been reduced to four (although I think someone may have reported
that on the AC board earlier) but we were pleased to see that the upright
machines that replaced them have 9/6 JOB in quarter, half, dollar and two-dollar
denominations.
We found that 9/6 JOB combined with the 5X cashback is a pretty good play.
In two days, we put through around 40K of action and earned well over $200 in
slot dollars. We immediately booked next weekend at the Borg so we can pick
up our cashback and take advantage of this play again before we head to Vegas
Nov.17th. On Friday, I hit a $1,000 royal (our 24th of the year and 183rd
lifetime) on the first line of multi-strike after holding a lone ace of
diamonds. It was only the second time I've ever hit a royal after holding one card.
We had decent luck on MS and held our own on JOB, finishing the weekend with
a small profit, not including cashback.
We also met friends in the Showboat and Caesars diamond lounges for lunch
Friday and Saturday and had no trouble going to the head of the line and
bringing in as many guests as we wanted with our Seven Stars card. It also was
business as usual at the Seven Stars Lounge at Harrah's, so it appears the recent
new rules don't affect Seven Stars guests.
We were also reminded why we love the Borgata so much. The buffet is still
sensational ... and still an incredible bargain at $10 a head with the Black
Label card ... and we love the rooms and overall ambience of the place. It
also was a pleasure to play the slant-tops near the cashier's cage and the
Amphora Lounge with 9/6 JOB that were formerly in smoking areas. Unfortunately,
that will change soon when the casinos go back to the 25%-75% rule.
We only wish the Borg would show some guts and stick with the smoking ban.
The place was positively jammed Saturday night and it seems smokers are pretty
much resigned by now to going outside to light up. But, keeping the status
quo at any of the casinos seems like nothing but a pipe dream. At least, the
new machines near the multi-strike machines are in a no-smoking area.
We'll be taking our Seven Stars trip to Vegas Nov. 17-24, staying the first
three nights at South Point and the final four at Caesars Palace. During our
stay, we'll be going to the Comedy Festival at CP where we will see Ellen
Degeneres and Jerry Seinfeld on back-to-back nights. We'll also be cashing in
our Vegas points at the Great Gift Wrap-up at Harrah's.
