Hi,
I just returned from 4 fun nts in AC. We stayed at Showboat, Harrahs and
Ballys
DAY 1
Showboat: We checked in Friday nt. The room was small and pretty drab. There
was a problem with the heat and it was about 180 in the room. Called
housekeeping and the response was, yeah we know there is a problem. I complained to
the front desk twice without great results. It was very difficult sleeping in a
sauna.
Gambling: This place sucks. Nothing playable. I played the $1 96 DDB, I found
a few $1 8/5 JOB (amazing most were 6/5) ,25 triple play jokers wild and lost
on all of them. Then I played the .25 8/5 JOB MS. After about an hour, I hit
a royal on the first line for a $1000. Interesting thing no bells, cash out or
anything, it just posts the credits and you keep going.
Total for the day +430
Food: The buffet. It's fairly pricey at $25. Great place if you want to eat
like a horse. This place had more stations and food types (Chinese, seafood,
carving, Italian, etc.) The food was buffet quality, medium. The amount of food
wasted could feed a small country.
We were supposed to stay 2 nts but I called down Sat morning and got switched
to Harrahs and an Atrium suite for Sat nt. Best point is we were on a RFB
comp and the bill was 0 at check out.
DAY 2
We checked into Harrahs. The Atrium suite was nice with a great water view.
We were on a LFB comp
Gambling Harrahs:
There are 6 $1 triple plays, 4 in a corner by a $1 progressive bank and 2 in
the Diamond area. These machines pay 6/5 for JOB, BP and Aces Bonus. I put in
a $100 and played the aces and lost. Put in another $100, switched to BP and
pulled 3 to a Royal on the second hand. It was downhill from there. Lost a few
hundred on the 3 play. Played the short pay single line $1 JOB and Jokers
progressive. I could not find the $1 9/6 JOB. I moved to the bank of $1 Multi
strike near the escalator. Played for over an hour and lost approx. $900
Dinner Florentinos
We had a great dinner at Florentinos. My wife, daughter and mother in law had
the filet minion and loved it. I had the stiffed chicken breast special which
was also very good. The grilled shrimp appetizer was the best I've ever had.
I thought the dessert of a raspberry tart with ice cream was fair. The dinner
for 4, with bottle of wine ran 300+ with tip.
Borgata
We had reservations to the comedy show at the Borgata that evening. I went to
the My Borgata desk and showed them my Harrahs diamond card and they
upgraded my Red Label to a Black Label card. They also gave me $50 slot dollars and
told me how to activate a $40 slot dollar promo I had received.
Show
The comedy club featured 3 comedians, two were very funny. The tickets were
comped from a mailer. The only knock is that the room was huge and ideal for a
headliner not an intimate type of improv show. Because it was so huge, it was
only about 70% full on a Sat nt. Also, there is no waitress service. You have
to wait on line at what looks like a popcorn stand to order a drink.
Gambling
There are only 3 3/play machines that I could find there. The pay tables were
the same as Harrahs, 6/5 for JB and BP. I may be wrong, but I thought when I
was there in August it paid 8/5 for BP. I played this briefly and then moved
to the $1 9/6 JOB there are lots of these scattered around the floor. I also
played a little $5 8/5 BP. We played there for a couple of hours. Net -$320
Harrahs Check-out
We put 27,000 through the machines at Harrahs. When we went to check out they
had used my points for the room and used my remaining points to pick up
roughly $40 from dinner. This was amazing to me. We used to be full RFB and there
were times they picked up 1 or 2 airfares to AC. It will take an amazing offer
including partial ownership to get us back to Harrahs (forget about Showboat)
in AC
Total for Day 2 +$2400
Days 3 & 4
Ballys
Checked into Ballys. We had a suite which was really 2 adjoining rooms where
1 had a murphy bed and sitting area that could be used as a living room.
Gambling
In my opinion, Bally's is by far the best $1 VP in AC and the only Casino
worth the trip compared to MS in CT.
I played the bank of 6 $1 3play by the progressives. These are every fast
machines. They have 8/5 BP. I also played the 3/play in the Gold Room. These
machines also have FP JOB. I believe these are the only $1 3 play 8/5 BP and 9/6
JOB in AC. I played these machines for hours on both days
I also played the $1 9/6 JOB progressives which was at $4600 and the $1 8/5
BP progressive. I played some $5 BP and slots in the Gold Room.
They also have 2 $1 MS by the progressive area. I made my usual donation
playing the 8/5 JOB. The TITO doesn't work on these machines and you have to deal
with the coins.
Great gambling over the two days and Bally's but couldn't get a royal. I got
3 SF, lots of 4K and was dealt 4 to a Royal on triple play 3X. Total Ballys
results -1700
Dinners
Lunas: We were comped by our host up front for dinner at Lunas. In my
opinion, this was our best dinner. I had the Veal Parm, my wife had seafood and
daughter pasta. We all loved our meal. The service was excellent. The baked clams
appetizer and bisque was great. Highly recommend
Prime Place:The next night we had dinner at prime place. Dinner for 2 comped
up front, the other 2 were comped at checkout. The salad bar was great and the
high point of the meal. The service was poor, we sat there approx 15 minutes
before I asked for a waiter to be sent over. The wine glasses would be empty
and we'd have to ask for a refill because they hid the bottle and you couldn't
refill it yourself. Each of our filets had an inedible piece of grizzle or
fat. Desserts were good. I would pass on this one next time.
Show
Legends in Concerts: 4 tickets comped: The show was lots of fun. The singers
looked and sounded just like the original. The exception was Elvis, who had a
great voice but was the fattest Elvis I ever saw. The singers were Frankie
Vali, Nat King Cole, Michael Jackson, Dolly and Elvis. The dancers danced almost
every song and were excellent. 4 gorgeous woman and two guys. Not the splash
of Las Vegas but much more reasonably prices ( I think $20) and very enjoyable.
Spa & Pool
I enjoyed a few hours by the pool with my daughter. Nice pool, 6 hot tubs
etc. Full glass roof with an outside area that can be used in the summer.
Kids in AC
I had read recommendations to not bring kids to AC. This was the first time
we brought our daughter and will probably be the last. There are very limited
activities. We shopped, went to the pools and arcades, but in the end AC is not
very kid friendly. Maybe it is different in the summer.
