Once upon a time in a land called Atlantic City lived two adventurous lads
Joe and Moe identical twins. Always looking for new and exciting things to do
they decided to play video poker. They would play a total of two million hands
each and see how they fared in their new endeavor. They studied the game
fervently and took of on their mission.They were able to find a vp game that
had NO house advantage(you know this is a fairy tale for sure) and was
basically even money.
Well, after the usual ups and downs and the passage of time( one million
hands) they took stock of their bankroll. Joe had done alright for himself and
was up a tidy sum. Moe, however, did not share the same fortune and had lost.
In fact he had lost the SAME amount as Joe had won.
Because this is a fairy tale we have the liberty to end it anyway we choose.
The first unlikely scenario is Joe loses over the next million hands exactly
what he won in the previous.Moe on the other hand wins exactly what he had
lost.
The second ending is each twin has exactly the same experience they did in
the first million hands. Joe wins the identical amount..Moe loses the identical
amount. In other words each twin has doubled their wins or loses.
And finally the last possible ending to this la la land story is they both
end up playing an even second half.
Now comes the question. What are the chances of ANY of this really
happening?
