Hi!
My wife and I just returned from a long weekend in LV, on one of our quarterly trips there.
We were comp'ed at LVH but had been playing a lot at Caesars. On Saturday we were
bouncing between the 5-line (quarters) JOB and the 10-line (quarters) NSUD with nothing
special in mind. At about 3:30, we stopped at the Caesars Total Rewards counter to
discuss a problem that we had had with a comp'ed Total Rewards meal the previous
evening at the Flamingo. After explaining the situation to us, the fellow at the booth
asked us if we realized that I was just 280 points from the 1,000 points that was needed
for Platinum-in-a-day. With that in mind we thought that we would do a bit more playing.
We broke about 4:45 for a social commitment, after having earned about another 50
points. We got back to Caesar's at about 7:00 and played the 5-line JOB to reach the
Platinum level, since the 10-line quarter NSUD was occupied. We then celebrated at the
Augustus coffee shop with a light dinner, comp'ed by Total Rewards of course. My wife
and I discussed whether Diamond (800 more points) was within our reach. This was now
about 9:00. Well, we decided to give it a try but had to use the quarter Spin Poker JOB,
since all the 5-line JOB's and the single NSUD were occupied. This was a disaster in that
$200 disappeared in about 3 minutes (GROAN!), with only a few points being earned.
Disappointed in our failed effort, we walked back past the NSUD and were thrilled to see it
vacant. We spent the next 60-90 or so minutes earning the 800 points needed. We ended
up with the Diamond in a day level by about 11:00 (WHEW!). The most surprising thing (in
addition to actually making DIAD) was that we had phenomenal luck and ended up with
DIAD and being abut $600 ahead at Caesars, helped by one Royal and one set of 4 deuces.
On Sunday, we reviewed the various Diamond lounges. In our opinion, we rate them: (1)
Paris; (2) Bally's; (3) Harrah's; (4) Flamingo. We did not get to the Rio and Caesar's does
not open until May 8.
I will be returning for another weekend early in June with my younger son and we will be
scoping out the Diamond lounge at the Rio and the new one at Caesars that should be
open by then.
Sorry for rambling but my wife and I did find in exciting to make it to the Diamond level.
It looks to me that the 10-line quarter NSUD at Caesars is one way to do DIAD on the LV
strip.
