Tom and I were at Harrah's, Laughlin (HL) Friday through Sunday. This was
our first stay at HL since going Diamond in a Day in September. We received
an
invitation to the Macy's $10,000 giveaway, which included three nights.
(No,
we didn't win anything in the prize drawing).

So was the drawing a zoo?
++++++
It was nice to check-in at the Diamond counter and not have to stand in the
long line out front. We also had a host initial our $75 bouceback coupon so
it
could be cashed. Had a room in the South Adult Tower. Small, but very
comfortable bed.

Check-in Lounge is so nice, opens at 8am. $75 bounce? Is this for your play
for September? Good for a year and can be cashed at any southern Nevada
outlet? You rack up 7500 Reward Credits for this in Sept., or was this some other
deal?
Small Bed? I better bring a tape measure next time.

We used valet parking at HL, and each day we gave HL some action and then
walked down to River Palms for most of our play. On Friday, we each got
three
scratch-offs at River Palms (each requires 250 points; maximum of three
scratch-offs per person per day). I got one for $5 and two for $2. Tom hit
big....he
had two for $5 and one for $250! From the reaction of the booth attendants,
I think this was the biggest scratch-off they'd seen to that point. I also
got called for the wild card Young at Heart tournament and won $50 on
Friday.
At HL on Friday we earned 884 base points and 1211 bonus.
++++++
They still doing scratchers? A $250 hit...must have taken three approvals to
pay off that one. It seems they left the Friday Young at Heart alone, we
didn't cash anything on Oct 28th.

On Saturday, I played the 50 play 9/6 in non-smoking at 4:30 a.m. Was
playing 25 lines and was dealt 4/Royal. Caught one. We headed down to
River Palms
at 7 a.m. (nice workout walking up those 91 steps.....yes, I counted),
earned
100 points and had the 2/1 buffet. Played (unsuccessfully) at RP until
noon.
Walked back to HL and made our first visit to the Diamond Lounge. Had lunch
(wraps, chips, veggies, and great cookies). Sat outside overlooking the
river
and had a couple glasses of wine. Went back and played some quarter 10/7
DB.
Tom was dealt 4/Royal and caught it! Nice. Again had a bite to eat in the
Diamond Lounge for dinner. On Saturday earned 2414 base points and 3055
bonus.

So you found the secret clubhouse. Isn't that a nice veranda? Only six
tables out there and one cell phone conversation can ruin the quiet, but a
favorite spot. The weekends have three changes of food. Opens with 5/6 fresh
fruits/yogurt/muffins-donuts and some hot crepes/croissant concoctions. Lunch
brings out the sammies/chips. At 4pm the hot deep fried items are added.
So you got the meet Carol, Carrie, Joe and Scott. I think young Eddie moved
on (his heart just wasn't in it) replaced with a skinny Eastern Bloc gal...did
you catch her name?
Those raisin cookies go real good with a Heineken. I don't know which ones
go best with a red wine.
Are there 91 steps? On the 28th I managed to walk out of Harrahs three times
and walk back once. You can cut out half the steps by taking the elevator up
one floor to the walkway to the parking garage and them going up to the
second level using the parking garage elevator. Also just using the stairs on this
path breaks up that long flight of stairs and keeps you out of the sun a bit
longer.

Sunday morning up early again but no luck at HL. Again down to RP for
breakfast and lots of play until noon. Scratch cards yielded a total of $18
for the
two of us. Note: No scratch cards issued on Sundays. Back up to HL for
lunch in Diamond Lounge again. We both commented that it was worth going
Diamond
just for that benefit alone! As reported earlier, didn't get drawn for the
Macy's prize, or any other prizes. On Sunday earned 874 base points and 957
bonus points.Monday checked out very early and retrieved car from valet. Arrived at
River
Palms at 6:30 a.m., swiped card, and yes, Triple Points! We played and
played and played all day. Spent most of our time in the non-smoking area,
but
also put quite a few points on at the NSU Spin Poker machines. Scratch offs
on
Monday yielded a total of $18. It put on over 2000 points on Monday; Tom
about
1500.Tuesday morning played a short time (each put on 250 points), got our $4
fron
our scratch-offs and headed for home.
*******
That time change makes it so much easier to play and eat, don't you think?
In October the RP slot club had a sheet available with all the
promos...including the extended 3x points. Did you figure if we get 3x comps too?
I am glad that it appears that Harrahsization isn't such a bad thing for you.
You need to get down to Ak-Chin and check that out. My understanding is
they only have 300, 400 sq ft suites for rent. My best weekday rate quote was
$100+ in October, but I have so little Harrahs action lately.
So you put up with the smokers to hit a royal? Way to go Tom! The best
quarter play in N/S is 9/7/5 DB, which just isn't good enough.
Thanks for sharing your first-time Harrahs experiences.
