Lots of talk about gaming over the years in Pa. We had the politicos
with lots of opinion and ideas. Of course, we had to save the race
tracks. Lots of consulting with the race people. (I never heard
anyone suggest that some local going broke farmer or some mom & pop
restaurant should get some gambling $$$ help) There was even plans
to help some sports teams. They really need the $$$ so they can up
the ante for some of those golden players. The government wants to
lower property taxes; more consulting with experts. I'm sure I'll
welcome about $20 a year savings on property taxes. What % should
they collect in taxes from casino, of course the government sets that
too. There have been consultants for hundreds of groups. If they
would have asked my opinion; let the tracks fend for themselves just
like every other business. Put tax profits in general fund. Allow
enough casinos in order to have competition. ONE THING DIDN'T HAPPEN;
lawmakers consulting with player groups. Why would I expect that
though. It's not about the players entertainment, it's about how much
they can skin the player. In addition, it has been a rare letter that
has asked my opinion on anything in the casinos that I play. I'm sure
Harrah's doesn't delay any decisions while waiting for my call with
ideas.
Cheers...Jeep
