A strange comp from the Palms

In my monthly mailer from the Palms, today I have a "special"
food comp valued at $50 --- so long as I spend it today at the Bistro
Buffet --- no line pass included --- although none needed as I have a
MVP card.

You do not normally get to use your discounts when you go to the
buffet, so if I were to pay to have $50 worth of food there anyway it
would cost me $12.50 worth of points --- which are worth less than that.
Although for the first 15 days of this month you can sell this many
points back for $9.375 (provided they were earned in April), normally I
sell some of them back at $6.25 as they were earned in the High Limit
room. (I keep a few million points balance there because they
irregularly have sell-back-your-points specials, but above that level I
sell them back, at least sometimes.)

Then of course there's the rounding-down factor. The number of
buffets you need to purchase needs to total less than $50. If it comes
out to, say, $47 and you have more people in your party, you put the
extra people on a separate ticket and pay the regular 25% for them.

This is a one-day-only "opportunity". And even using it, I may
not use "all" of it as choosing the "right" number of guests to take
full advantage of this may well be more trouble than it's worth. We have
enough free food elsewhere that we may well let it expire unused. My
name and face is well enough known there that I can't "give it away". If
someone else tried to use this coupon, it could lead to negative
consequences, so I will not risk that.

It's really hard to feel super appreciative towards the Palms
for this "special" comp.

No HoF card for you, Mr. $5 5-line NSUD? Now, that's the real breaking
news item. I mean, even I can generate enough play to get one of those
lol...

The only thing I've found close to edible there was the Mediterranean
selections, and the Maloofs being Lebanese, I'd think they could do
better with the hummus and pita. As locals casinos buffets go, it's at
best average, IMHO.

Yes, I guess I do have a Hall of Fame card. Obviously I confused the
titles of the tier levels.

Insofar as what I eat at the buffet, I stick to the salad bar (with lots
of tabulah), and like the mixed seafood "stews" that they serve
peridically.
