A somewhat embarrassing question...

Hi!

What sort of venues are the 2 Harrah's casinos in Shreveport? Are they "safe" with respect
to parking and visiting and things like that?

I drive a really nice BMW. (No, I am not pretentious...it was a "mid-life crisis" car that my
wife bought for me...LOL) My sons advise me that it is probably not a good idea to drive
that car to Shreveport for visits to Lousiana Downs and Bossier City Horseshoe, since it will
draw unnecessary attention and possibly make me a "target".

Any comments or opinions?

No problem at all, have driven there many, many times in a more
expensive car. If you are concerned at all get the free valet at
either place.
Watch out for tickets on the way, especially Waskom right on the Texas
side of the LA/Texas boarder on I 20 (if you go that way). The speed
limit is the speed limit don't go over it at all or you may get
stopped.

Good Luck,
TC

Wow! Thanks, TC, for the quick "positive" answer (and the "speed-trap" warning).

My envisioned route would be north on I-35/I-35E to the environs of Dallas and then east

Your car should not cause you a problem.
I just park mine and have never had a problem
Tyler is where I see all the Highway patrol, I really think they are looking for drugs more
  than speeders.
We stay at the Horseshoe and ask for a water view which is nice.
They have a shuttle over to the other Harrah's, we go over to watch the horse races.
When you return be sure to tell all of us what you think about it.

Hi BL,
We live 75 miles NW of S'port and go quite often, well as often as
the poor VP will allow anyway. Use to live in DFW area and went
fairly often then too. Over the years we have never had any problem
what-so-ever at any of the Casinos and /or their Garages. They do
have security camera and patrols. Of course i would always be aware
that there is always a chance of bad thinks happening anywhere, so
don't make yourself a target and you probably won't have any
problems. We drive a slightly less expensive automobile [ a Ford
Focus wagon;-) ] with good gas miles, so there is more for VP. No
one has ever bothered our ve-hic-le.
Last trip I hit my first $4000 RF Whoopieee!, will be there again
for the slot tourney at the El'on the 14th. I don't envy you on that
drive, 1& 1/2 hours is enough for me these days.
Good Luck! May the VP Gods smile in your hopper, or at least not do
what they did in our from Oct. 05 through May 06 Lol!!!
