A Return to Nevada

To start with there are several flights a year to Wendover originating

from Great Falls, Butte, Missoula and Billings.<<

As was probably posted earlier, the Wendover flight situation is supposed
to be changing:

I notice they're not booking any flights past the first week in March
right now.

The Red Garter is open again in Wendover...they do joint mailings with the
Nugget, but have separate slot clubs/cards. The Garter has been cleaned
up, but the video poker selection is not only sparce but mostly crumby.

As stated before, I think the Wendover trips are a good deal and well worth
your time, if you're tired of the same old trips to Las Vegas. I,
however, don't see Wendover as a place where I'd want to move to try to get a
fresh start in life.

I'm not looking to move to Wendover or to any other town in Nevada. I'm simply doing a "what if I wanted to put Nevada back into my gambling repertoire?" What are the possibilities for me? The first thing I ask myself about any town is "can I make money there?" This is based on my skill level, no one else's. The three towns I'm looking at are Wendover, Las Vegas and Laughlin.

I'll go over Vegas and Laughlin later but Wendover is the first town I'm evaluating. The one constant in my gambling world is that things change. Plays come and go. I haven't been there in three years but if conditions are the same today as they were then, then Wendover is very attractive to me.

A low variance breakeven game to get the comp. How fast can I run the comp?....I could run up to $160 an hour before. Can I do that now? I was Diamond and getting .8% before. But my card is probably X'd out by now. If that's the case then I'll have to start over at .5%.

What did the comp get me before? Hotel, meals, haircuts, spa, concerts, espresso shop, clothes, in room pay per view movies. What could the comp get me in the future? All the above plus the flight packages.

A breakeven game don't make money. Where's the money? The same place it was before....in the poker rooms in the small blind no-limit holdem games....in the sports books middling and steam betting....the dollar 9/6 Jacks progressive (.75% meter) at the Nugget (if it's still there), and there may still be some advantage slots.

I don't think Allegient taking over is going to change anything. Elko, then Wendover have been working the West, Southwest, Northwest, Midwest states for at least 20 years. It appears to me that all that is changing is the airline. But if it does change I know other ways in and out of Wendover.

I'll pay for my first package in, cheap enough. Then I'll do the on site survey to see what the conditions are. If there is enough there then I'll work it.

And just because I take a flight in doesn't mean I have to get back on the jet three days later. 3 days isn't enough time to make any money. I'll make my way back to Montana at my own convenience. But flying from here straight to Wendover sure beats the hell out of flying to Salt Lake City and taking a day trip bus over to Wendover, and a hell of a lot cheaper.

Thank you for the information. Now, if they just had the flush attacks too. Oh, well. A guy can't have everything.
