A rare Pickum Royal

It was hit yesterday at the Sun on the .25 machines in the upper cove. It was in Clubs. Hit by a Chinese man who didn't have an ID, and had come by bus. It took about an hour for him to get papers sent to the Sun, so he could collect his winnings, but it all worked out ok. Third machine towards center, from the left, when looking at them from the front of them.

Anyone got any tips on Boyd Gaming's B Connected program?

I have been on Main Street Stations mailing list for years now, getting a free room, food, and usually some freeplay for my play on the bartop 9/6 JOB machines there.

Now they are part of B Connected, and I am trying to figure out how to maximize my benefits. Should I concentrate play on one day or spread it out? Do the tier levels mean anything or are offers based on daily play? What kind of offers can you expect?

Thanks for any advice on just how this B Connected program works.

The higher up you go on their tier schedule, the more perks you will receive. Do you live in Vegas? I don't think it matters if you give them daily play or spread it out. But if you give them play everyday, what are you going to do, change your pattern?

Just be aware that your tier points expire 90 days from when you put them on your card. I kept on wondering why my tier points were changing until someone explained it to me. I follow the points at the B-Connected website. Not too long ago, I thought I would reach the Emerald level on my upcomming trip, but my points started disappearing. When I got to Vegas, I stopped at the booth to ask them what was going on. They then told me about the 90 day deal. Sure enough, I thought back to when my last trip was and wouldn't you know it, it was about 96 days before.

The 90-day expiration on points isn't very player-friendly for those of us who only make it out to Vegas 2-3 times per year.

Or even just once a year. I used up all the points I could when I was there, and had my room reduced by $11.00. It was $11 I would not be using till next time I'm there, which is probably not for about year later. I was there early March. Although my Tier points will be gone by Sept 14, I'm thinking of going before then. Hm, wonder if I can get a $95 5 night deal again from Harrahs

I believe the terms depend on your home property. It appears there is a 90-day window to accrue tier points for Coast properties. For downtown Boyd properties, the window is six months for locals; for out-of-towners, I was told it's one year. I have observed this to be true for the non-locals - I was converted over to B Connected in October 2008 and have not lost any tier points as of May 2009.

REPLY TO FOLLOWING POST: I'm an out-of-stater who's in Vegas now and played at the Gold Coast yesterday. I was surprised to see that, as best I can tell, the tier points that I earned in both April '09 and December '08 are still in my tier score. Without me even asking, the person at the player's club desk volunteered that I'm close to making Emerald tier, which wouldn't be possible without the points fromlast December. When I expressed puzzlement, she explained that the tier score is sort of a lifetime thing. That didn't square with what I thought I knew and the previous poster wrote but, as mentioned, my total does seem to include points earned >6months ago.

I recall learning somewhere that the B Connected system distinguishes between local members and "destination" members. But the previous poster said that he, too, lives elsewhere, so I'm still puzzled. I try to play about 5,000 points on any day when I do show up. MAYBE a "destination" member with a decent daily average gets leniency re point expiration??? It beats me, but I intend to run my 3-visit total up to the Emerald level on this trip and then ask for a new card and see what happens.

Maximize your benefits? Simple, get to Emerald level! 8-D

I know where you're coming from. As a "destination" player myself whose home property is Main Street Station, it's not a given that I will get the 200,000 points in a year needed to reach or maintain Emerald. It can be tough to do when Vegas trips happen only a few times a year, and to also play comfortably at the level required to run ~$200,000 through during those occasional trips. That said, if it would be difficult to reach Emerald based on your play, it makes more sense to maintain a high daily average instead of spreading the same amount out over the course of multiple days. You'll certainly "look better" to the casino. As far as I know, you can be GFB or SFB even if you aren't Emerald.

If you are the least bit serious about VP, reaching Sapphire is virtually automatic. All you need is 30,000 tier points in a year, and there's really only one major difference between Sapphire and Emerald - 3x daily slot points for Emerald vs. 2x for Sapphire. While that's a pretty healthy difference, is it worth the risk of overplaying to get 170,000 more points for Emerald? On the B Connected web site, check out the additional "perks" that a downtown Boyd Emerald player is eligible for over a Sapphire player. Not exactly a bonanza of goodies there.

Dead on, there is no way to compete with a local who comes in everyday.

I've always been drawn to the Gold Coast & have a long history with them.
I often drop in while staying elsewhere. My play ranges from $1k- $20k.
Many more low playing days, than higher play days over the years.

On multiple point days is when I would play a lot more. I play 9/6 Jacks at
various levels. One of the reasons I like the GC is I don't worry about
daily action there. I will play half hour before I leave town or take a break
at GC from where I'm staying at.

For the first time, they sent me a survey. I gave them high marks in most areas
( like I said, I like GC ) but gave them very low marks for their slot club benefits.

In the first box I could find to fill out, I told them why I felt the benefits were poor and
gave zero incentive for me to get to the next tier. I cannot compete with their local
customer who comes in on a daily basis, 365 days per year.

I also went into detail about Silverton and how they
recognize me as a non local and rate me at a much higher level than
GC. At Silverton I get their top tier mailer.

In response, Lief Erickson Assistant General Manager of GC called
AND emailed me. They never said I was right, but thanked me for taking the
time to fill out the survey and they were going to bump me up to their highest rating.
They bumped up my daily food to $150 from $50 daily, and my free pay to
$100 from $50 daily.

Another surprise was within 2 days, my offers online had been changed to reflect
what he offered. He also added a suite and host name & number.

I'm still impressed they seem to hear what I was saying.
That being said, I don't expect any change in their slot club benefits anytime soon.

The purpose of my post was to educate anyone else who is in the same boat I am.
I always knew host would comp off the food I charged to the room but it's nice to have
it upfront, not to mention the free daily play, at top tier level ( each day, for two days. )

Best Regards,
Lolly
