A quick note from "down under"...

I just got to Canberra. There is nothing so pleasant as a 14.5 hour
flight over the Pacific (Los Angeles to Sydney)...LOL

Anyway, my hotel is right next to the Canberra Casino, and from what I
have seen in a very brief glimpse, the place really sucks. Unless
they are hiding somewhere (and I have not really had a chance to check
everything out) there are no slots/vp at all, just table games....and
even the locals say to stay away from the casino....<smile>

Oh yes...at the entrance there is an old-timey, antique, one-armed
bandit that dispenses rolls of mints for $1 (Australian).

Anyway, I have a week to spend here but I am already dreading the
flight back.

I have made this flight (LAX-Auckland)and I can feel your
pain....not to mention your leg cramps! I hope that you did all the
recommended foot and leg exercises, and walked the length of the
plane every couple of hours to ward off dreaded blood clots.

EH & I managed to stick our nose in almost every casino in New
Zealand and Australia. We found nary a decent VP machine. The
Australian "Pokies" are actually multi-line video slots. Just
guessing, of course, but I'd calc the EV at about 50%, give or take
a point or two. (-:

Enjoy the beautiful scenery, great night clubs, good food, and
lovely citizens. Take a pass on the sub-par gambling.

Best regards,
~Babe~

If you are traveling to ny other cities, would you
report on their gaming please. We'll be down under in
about 15 months.

Sorry! Canberra is my only stop, with transfers through the Sydney
airport. And if the last 3 days are any indication, I am in
meetings wall to wall, starting last Sunday and going through this
coming Saturday, from 8:30 in the morning until about 10:00 in the
evening. And, with them bringing in the food, I do not even get a
chance to escape for a few minutes. UGH!

The long trip back is on Sunday. With our going back over the
International Date Line, lucky me, I get to live Sunday 2 times. I
leave Canberra on Sunday morning and arrive at LAX...ta da!...on
Sunday morning. LOL.

I guess that makes up for my missing Friday on the way out here.

Anyway, good luck on your 15 months in OZ.
