A Quick Lesson In How To Play Video Poker Intelligently

First, you will put your family, your religious beliefs, and your
health before any thoughts of hitting the machines. If you just can't
or don't/won't get that, or are too addicted to the game (i.e., have
a need to play the game as often as the opportunity arises, play on
an 'almost' daily basis, or get excited and play whenever a few spare
bucks come your way) then you're not intelligent and have no business
playing a game that already has the upper hand on YOU.

You lucky dogs. Today I'll revisit my trip to Laughlin early Friday
morning so you may come to understand what it takes to be a
successful gambler. On Thursday if you had asked me if I were going
to Laughlin Friday I'd have said absolutely not. But at dinner over
my daughter's house Thursday evening I heard several things that put
the trip together for me: My son-in-law told me my restored '70 GTO
developed a leaky gas tank as he drove it during the day; and, they
asked me if I could help them get a slab of cement poured in their
back yard for a BBQ/bar/kitchen set-up. The tank, installed, was
around $500. The cement slab was twice that.

I began to think, hmmmm.....$1500. Sounds like a very doable win goal
for me. So off I went early Friday to The Ramada Express, Harrah's
and mostly the Edgewater with a $15,000 bankroll. Turned out I only
needed $300 to win $1910 playing 50c/$1/$2 RTT & ARTT 8/5 & 7/5 BP in
less than 2 hours of play--and most of that was spent WALKING between
Harrah's and the other joints. All, once again, on what the "AP's"
for some odd reason call, get N-E-G-A-T-I-V-E EV games! And here's a
unique twist to compulsive players everywhere: I LEFT TOWN
immediately upon reaching my win goal! The tank is ordered and the
hard working boy who does cement has a call in his inbox. There was
no trying to win more as problem gamblers, i.e., those who 'play with
an edge', are famous for doing.

As Dick would point out ... the above is classic RIV ... but I
really just wanted to pick up on the tale below which is a very nice
illustration of "bully reality" ... how Rob WISHES his life could
be. What's included in the story are several of his most painful
personal failures.

Family ... long alienated
Classic car ... lost to bankruptcy
Casinos ripe for picking ... Rob ripe for picking
Winning large sums quickly ... losing large sums quickly
Able to quit when ahead ... loses entire stake
Advantage player ... not enough discipline to succeed
"Guru" business ... advice forced on others because no one will pay
for it.

Oh, and what REALLY happened yesterday ... good chance he was
hungover from a drug/alcohol bender. Facing up to the truth, as
delivered by Dick, is impossible for bullies.

The only part of that which I understand is the RIV part, which
equates to when little dicky hasn't anywhere else to go with a topic
or is at a loss for pertinent wording. My response is usually ???,
so ???.
