It's the contact from hand to any mucous membrane that can spread infections most easily - that's why you're supposed to wash your hands so often when you have a cold. So it's not only smokers, but nose-pickers and eye-rubbers (the last one is where I try to exercise restraint) that can catch whatever's lurking on those buttons.
Those nice alcohol wipes the casinos used to provide when everyone had dirty hands from handling coins are still a good idea - use frequently and freely.
PS - I would kiss a smoker after he/she has been gambling if it's my spouse and she won a bunch.
