A MOST SATISFYING RF (It's not only the money)

3a. A MOST SATISFYING RF (It's not only the money)

Howdy

How many times have you been dealt a flush only to take a second look and
notice four of the suited cards are four fifths of a Royal Flush? This is an
emotional pull. You know you are going to have to ditch the pat hand and shoot
for the RF. You are keenly aware the chances are 47-1 against you that you
will get the needed card. Sometimes you flush up but miss the biggie. Sometimes
you get the right card..BUT wrong suit. That is a real stinger! A punny
straight is no substitute for the elusive royal family. Most times you end up
disappointed in the pull unless you get the dream card.

Yesterday I got THE card. It was my second Royal in as many days. A first
for me. These came after a slump which had depleted 25 % of my total bankroll.
A period of at least two cycles...Bummer!

Out of all the possible royals you can pull including the magical no redraw
I find the "Damn I have to break up the flush" the most rewarding to me. Aside
from the obvious BIG MONEY pull what RF do you savior the most?

Sometimes it feels like this is the ONLY way I get to draw one to a Royal -- although I know I have that feeling because, as you describe, you are giving up a sure winner for many opportunities to get less (or nothing) instead, and one chance for the Royal.

Interestingly, all my Royals so far have been 2 to 4 card draws; I've never yet hit when I've drawn just 1 to the royal. Maybe that's another reason that I have that sinking feeling when I have to make that play - but I get my expectations ready for the worst, hope for the best, and do the right thing.

It's a little like some of the hands in blackjack, like splitting eight's, where you are going to lose in the long run, but you're just going to lose less than if you don't split them -- not exactly the same situation, but the same feeling.

Just to clarify, I'm sure you meant hands like splitting eight's
AGAINST TENs (or aces or 9s.) Many of the other 8 splits, such as 8,8
vs. 7, have a positive expected outcome.
