A link for basic rules?

Is there a webpage or a link that shows the basic rules for video
poker? For example, when playing blackjack if the dealer has a face
card or a 10, and you have 17 or less, rule is you hit.

Any rules like that for VP?

For example, if I have 2 queens, 2 4's and an 8, do I keep the two
pair, or keep 2 queens and go for 4 of a kind?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry Gary, but you wont be hitting any 17's in blackjack, even if the
dealer has a howitzer as his up card, except maybe in certain tournament
conditions.

As for video poker, you will find that it is not as much of a pure bred game
as blackjack. There are hundreds of variations of games and the answer to
your questions very much depend on which game you are playing. If you are
playing DB, Bonus, KBJW or NSUD games, you would hold the two pair. If you
are playing FPDW or LDW, you would hold one pair only. The choice of which
pair will almost always turn out to be THE OTHER ONE :-). Seriously, in
these games it does not matter which one, just pick one.

I am judging from your post that you may be new to the game of video poker.
I would highly recommend to you and any other new members to vpFREE, that
you go online to the vpFREE homepage and spend an hour and click on every
link there. There are a world of free resources right at your fingertips
( Is mousetips a word?) there for the taking. You can find a list of the
abbreviations of games that I used in this post. You can find ways of
determining your bankroll for different games. You can find paytables for
almost every VP game in existence. There are links to archives of articles
written by some of the most knowledgeable video poker players/writers in the
country. If you need to purchase computer software to improve your skills,
those links are there. There are a lot of members here just waiting to
answer any questions that you might have, most of them a lot smarter than
me[G]. Best of luck.

Gary -

I strongly recommend that you buy Bob Dancer's Win Poker for your computer to practice on and his related Strategy Guides to explain the best moves. I bought them all on the recommendation of Jean Scott and would be lost without them. You can order them thru vpFREE or greatsuff4gamblers.com.

Good Luck!
