A Lazy Man's Strategy Question.

I know I should sit down myself with the strategies of the two games
and figure the answer to this question myself. I don't do this
because I might make a mistake and also because, I'm ashamed to
admit, I'm lazy. So here is the question to whomever is idle and
chooses to reply. What are the modifications to 9/6 Jacks or Better
strategy, in order of importance, that you have to make to play 9/6/5
DB? Thanks.
E

I'll reply to my own post and see if someone contradicts me, or
corrects me, or adds something.

The differences in strategy between 9/6 JB and 9/6 DDB in order of
importance are to hold:

1.- Triple aces over full houses.

2.- Pair of aces over two pairs.

3.- Three to a royal of the type TJQ and JQK over a pair of jacks,
queens or kings.

4.- Four card inside straights over a redeal.

5.- Hold a single, lone, solitary ace over suited KT.

Ed,

I have to admit that I breezed over your initial post which had
provoked a reaction of "Has he gone of his rocker?" You'll admit that
there's a bit of a difference between 9/6/5 DDB and 9/6/5 DB -- your
initial post was:

What are the modifications to 9/6 Jacks or Better strategy, in order

I haven't researched the ideal strategy changes, but was motivated out
of curiousity to analyze your changes with Frugal VP to see what they
get you.

Playing 9/6/5 DDB with unmodified 9/6 JB strategy reduces ER from
100.34% to 99.73%, a reduction of about .6%

With your strategy changes, you pick up around .2% of that shortfall.
Not a bad start, but you'll agree that it might be a worthy effort to
try to restore the lion's share of the ER shortfall with maybe three
or four additions, no?

Harry,

Oh how a little letter can change things. My original post was 9/6/5
DB and that is what I meant. This is thinking ahead to a possible
visit to Mandalay Bay. I read on a link here that there are plenty of
quarter DB 9/6 progressives there, and that is the best they offer in
VP. I assume they are 9/6/5 DB machines, otherwise the payback would
be too, too low. As it is, a 9/6/5 DB machine would pay back only
97.8%. It is to be hoped that the progressive meters will add
considerably. This it not out of the question, as the progressives
are on aces, 2s, 3s, 4s and, of course, royals. If the meter on those
progressives are interesting, considering the 0.33% cashback, then
those machines might be playable, by that I mean, one could
confidently park oneself for a few hours and play them. LOL.

I am puzzled by your reply, still. I know I made the mistake on my
second post of typing DDB 9/6/5, but I have never seen a DDB machine
that pays 5 for straights. Do they exist anywhere? Thanks for your
reply and sorry again for my mistake.
