Don't know why you felt the need to repeat what I already said. "Video poker
wasteland" already says it all!

thanks Brian for this useful info re a host at rio. imo rio is a
great place to stay for advantage non-local vp players. we get comp
room, show and shopping offers at the platinum, not diamond, level on
top of slot club comp and cashback. rio has quarter non-progressive
vp w/ a better return than fp job. we love the 2 buffets and we
never have to wait in the long lines because of our platinum card.
given the comp offers, slot club benefits, and coin-in required to
maintain platinum level, i'd bet that rio is an advantage play w/ vp
better than fpjb. the icing on the cake is we can walk next door to
palms and gold coast. imo this adds to the vp value of staying at
rio.

I completely agree that the Rio is a top-notch place to stay for
comped guests -- spacious rooms, good restaurants, friendly staff,
pleasant even somewhat intimate ambience despite its enormous size.
And its off-strip location is hardly a detriment given the proximity
to advantage locations like the Palms and Gold Coast. However,
having just spent four nights there myself, I was puzzled by the
comment regarding "quarter, non-progressive vp (that offers) a better
return than FP JOB." What game/machines are you referring to? I'll
be delighted to learn I'm wrong, but the best quarter game I'm aware
of at the Rio is FP BP (~14-16 multi-game machines). -- Gipper
