A good day at Greektown

Peg and I went casino hopping on Saturday. First, to Motor City to collect a little free play and have a nice meal at the Classics buffet. That's always a treat.

After breaking even there, we were heading to MGM to collect some more freeplay. The line for the parking garage stretched back almost to Michigan Ave. so we skipped that and went on to Greektown. We had some free play there and decided to do a little recreational gambling.

After breaking even on the single line deuces and pick 'em, I threw $100 into the 5 play quarters. After about 45 minutes I was dealt TJQK of diamonds and drew an A of hearts, a 9 of diamonds and an Ace of diamonds. Hooray, $1076. I played some more and then cashed out up about $1000. I played some other stuff, broke about even and headed back to the 5 plays. 30 minutes later, I held 3 to the royal and hit the other 2 for my second royal. I played some more and cashed out up about $1000. Up $2000, a pretty good day.

After a little break, Peggy said I should play the Black Gold quick hits ( $0.02 slot). If you get 5 to 9 quick hit symbols , you get the corresponding jackpot. After about 15 minutes, I hit 8 quick hits for $2626.04. One more quick hit would have been $14,500. I played some more and cash out up another $2500. Wow, what a day.

I played the $1 progressive, lost $100, played $2 pick 'em and broke end and played $0.50 NSUD and lost a hundred. I decided to try the 5 play one more time.

After about 25 minutes, I held 3 to the royal and hit the other 2 for my 3rd RF of the day. Woo Hoo. I decided to get brave and moved up to $0.50 5 play . I had about $1100 in the machine and said if I got down to $800 I would go back to quarters. Well, I cheated. I got down to about $785 but kept playing. I then proceeded to hit a ton of stuff, quads dealt 3 times and full houses all over the place. After my 3rd dealt quad and about 8 tickets in my pocket from dumpage over the $1200 credit total, I got crazy and played $1 5 play.

After about an hour and 10 more tickets in my pocket from dumpage, a lady came by to watch. While she was watching, I lost about $700 in 30 minutes in both dollars and fifty cent. I quit at that point up another $1900.

I ended up about $6400. The amazing thing is that if you took away the royals , I still made money on JOB playing a boat load of hands.

I was thinking of all the 'quit while you're ahead' or 'lock in a profit' schools of thought. Of course I remember losing $700 in 30 minutes and wonder a little why I didn't quit before that. The answer is, you never know what the next hand will bring. And even though the lady watching has nothing to do with my results, it still stuck in my head, for a little while anyhow.

This was the single most profitable gambling day of my life.

Ok, does anyone know what it takes to hit the top 50 for the Bahamas cruise? If it takes half a million coin in, I won't bother. If it takes $200,000 coin in, I might give it a shot.

Nice going Johnny, It's a good thing MGM was crowded. I know most of us can count the number of multiple win days on one hand so savor the moment and spend some of it. Every time I look at the central air unit in my yard, I remember the 2RF's I hit in one day. ARN

Great day John! Maybe Brian and I should just meet you at the casino and give you all of our money, cutting out the middleman. Then we can all go home and play VP for winners. I was at Greektown Friday and Sunday and was lucky to hit a couple of quads on the 5 play JOB, so it's interesting to hear about your multiple hits. I won't talk about how much money I left at GC.
