Just thought I'd share a truly amazing VP success story... I only
wish it had happened to me! My ladyfriend (Deb) and I went to Motor
City in Detroit on Saturday. Thought we'd go duck-hunting on their
quarter NSUD progressive. She's a pretty decent player, not a good
as most on this board but still plays OK.
The first part of this story was that after 3 hours of playing NSUD,
with NO quad ducks and NO royals, she was still even for the day.
Any of you NSUD players know how amazing that is.
I was getting my a** kicked.
We quit to get some lunch, then went back to the ducks. Only one
machine open, she sits down and in about 10 hands - quad ducks! Now
she's happy. I find a seat on the other side of the back-2-back
bank, sit down, play maybe 10 minutes, and I see her smiling face
sticking out from the end of the bank. Another set of ducks. Boy,
she's really happy now.
I was getting my a** kicked.
She's up about $400 and decides that she wants to leave with her
winnings. As we head for the car, she further decides that she'd
like to buzz over to MGM for some quarter 9/7 DB progressive action.
OK, fine, whatever. We've been there about 5 minutes, she's on my
right and some lady is on my left, bitching up a storm about how
badly that machine is treating her. She leaves. Deb switches to that
machine - and BOOM! up pops a Royal for about $1050. She takes her
cashout ticket to the cage immediately, almost floating all the way
there.
I was getting my a** kicked.
She comes back, I had switched machines, she sits next to me and
begins one of the most amazing runs of quads I've ever seen. Aces,
2's-3's-4's, you name it, she hit it. Meanwhile, I went for almost 2
hours without a quad of any kind. Finally, she decided that she'd
had enough and wanted to leave. With her pockets bulging.
I was STILL getting my a** kicked.
As we're heading out, she tells me that she's finally got the nerve
to try the Dollar 9/7 DB upstairs. My, she's feeling rich, she never
plays dollars. OK, I've got one lousy Benjamin left, let's go. We
each stick our $100 bills in adjacent machines, and start firing
away. Now she can't draw anything, she couldn't draw a picture if it
was connect-the-dots. Her Benji goes slurp-slurp-slurp until she's
down to her last $5 out of that hundred. One hand left. It deals
her pure junk, she throws it all away - and gets A-A-x-A-A on the
draw for $800. She ended up ahead by a bit over $2400 for the day.
Un-freakin'-believable!
I was still getting my a** kicked.
Well, to end the story, she quit after those aces. I had about $30
left on the machine, got a really good run of full houses capped by a
quad, which put me ahead $20 for the day - and I'm outta there, too.
Finally, I wasn't getting my a** kicked!
