A Fun Game

The Super Draw 6 Card poker machine is at Gold Dust West in Reno. It's 3
play with 5 cent, 10 cent, 25 cent, 50 cent and $1.00. At 25 cent to $1.00
the best games are 8/6 Deluxe Bonus Poker (98.81%) and 9/5 Double Double
Bonus (98.46). The more gentle 7/5 Bonus Poker has a payback of 98.17%.

I don't know about strategy changes, but things to consider include the
fact that when holding 3 to a royal the royal will come up about once in 360
draws as opposed to once in 1100 on a regular machine. So, remembering that
4 of a kind plus a pair pays 2000 and a 6 card royal (9-A) pays 8000 on
Bonus Deluxe, do you hold 2 jacks or 3 to a royal?

considering also the bonus for six-card straights, flushes and the extra card to get high pairs, trips and even quads on the draw, I like the hold of AKQ suited over JJ

Seems not many here like to use their intuition on new games:
they prefer to wait for a game to catch on and someone to churn out a strategy sheet.
and to make sure it returns 99% or more.

playing it now on videopoker dot com
with my 1500 hours or so of experience on other games to use as a basis for my intuition.

I wanted to relay an update on Super Draw 6.
I'm in Reno, and I made the 1/2 mi walk from Silver Legacy to Gold Dust West on Vine St.
I've never been to Gold Dust.

I walked around and found the triple play well marked Super Draw 6 single machine next to two Spin Poker machines. I started out playing 30 quarters 9/5 DDB. Fun, but dropped $200, not hitting any quads or bonus hands higher than $100.

I upped to 50c denom, 30 creds, again 9/5 DDB.
The quads & bonus six-card hands started flowing....
In this maybe 45 minute session: .
1 x 100 for two trips.
3 x 125 quads
1 x 125 SF
1 x 200 bonus quad 2
2 x 400 bonus quad w/kicker

I noticed that, while sticking to a basic DDB hold strategy, it was much funner to hold 3 SF open and 1-gap.
It was REALLY fun to get dealt trips.

Which is what I held on my visit-closing hand:
Held 333
drew the fourth 3 plus 88 on line one. 2000 cred payoff.
no improvement to trips on line 2
drew the fourth 3 but no kicker or pair on line 3 for 400 creds

as the credits rattled up the meter, I tried to figure out what I got.
when the meter stopped moving, up popped the familiar Call Attendant box, alternating with a big Jackpot $1207.50 box.

Cool!

Then I realized with no history here, and no proof of Social Security # on my person, it might become a hassle getting paid. No problem: everyone was very friendly. first responder took my Driver License, a debit card for some reason and I scrawled my Soc # on one of my blank pocket index cards. He did not reset the machine. Another attendant lady came by, plus a manager suit-type who, strangely, took a couple photos of the jackpot screen.
Everyone disappeared. First responder dude returned with a W-9 form for me to sign. He did not return my debit card. Chatted with him a bit and I asked him if he'd be returning with the posse for the handpay. He said no, explained they were making me a player card, and the others would return to pay me. I made a pal with my $10 tip to him. Then a long, maybe 15-minute wait but not annoying at all. Attendant lady comes with my debit cad (phew), and player card and explains a few promo coupons, pin is my Y-o-B, and there's $5 loaded on the card as a sign-up bonus. Manager suit was with her, but she sent him off to retrieve the W-2G's that they forgot to bring.
I signed their W-2G when he got back, took my copy and accepted the exactly $1207 and fifty cents hand-pay, (no rounding up here!) I tipped the attendant lady $20. (my usual tip would be $10, maybe $15). They didn't ask me to play off the hand. But I did, loaded my freeplay successfully and cashed out at a nice round number.

Before the handpay, I had a pleasant chat with attendant lady, who said yeah, there was a couple in "recently" who were playing Super Draw 6 a lot and trying to explain their strategy to her. Was that you BillC?

Why did you give them a debit card? It's not a form of ID and it's protected by four digits, that's only 10 thousand possible combinations. I hope it was a dead debit card with no balance or "overdraft protection"? I do give you high grades however for not carrying around your SS card, per government recommendation. Casinos will ask for whatever they think they can get away with, it's your job to protect your own identity.

Also, as a general rule, it's probably not a good idea to tip until you have recieved all of the money and all of your stuff back and you have a clear exit path to the door. You're tipping for service and you're never quite sure exactly the kind of "service" you're going to get in a casino, could range from friendly to handcuffs and a free cavity search. Do you tip a waitress before she brings you the check or a bartender before you try the drink?
