A Different Kind Of Mohegan Trip

Hi,
At the last minute I hopped an afternoon bus for a six hour visit to MS. I had not been there since Sept. and took the bus( using a voucher that was ready to expire), to try, for the first time, live poker; $2-4 Hold Em.
I did play for two and a half hours and enjoyed it. Lost under $100. I have a lot to learn and will purchase a book or two about playing low stakes limit games.
  Just a few observations....

Part of the bus "deal" are three coupons..(2)$5 and one $10 voucher good for a bet on the big wheel or sic bo. In the past I had been placing a bet on large and small in the same game usually winning one and pocketing the ten dollars or so. Last summer they changed the policy so you could only bet large. Of course one could still bet any individual number. Anyway this time the dealer told me that I could ONLY bet an individual number or combo not large or small. I protested saying that it was clearly written on the back of the voucher that I could bet large. He agreed but said that a few weeks ago management changed the policy. I told him that this was a good way to lose even more customers at a time when business was lousy anyway. He agreed and to my surprise said aloud with other workers standing nearby:"...this place is becoming Foxwoods #2.."

  Other observations..
Ate at Bobby Flay which had a prix fixe for Sun.-Thurs.nights..never had that before..business must be getting worse.
Did manage to pick up a new pair of running shoes at Trailblazer with my few remaining comp dollars. Unfortuntely don't have the thousands in comp balance that I know some of our board members have!
Bus tickets are normally $38. I found out that this was the last day of a special where you could purchase maximum of two for $23 each provided you use your points. Vouchers are good for one year. Also starting June 26 and running through the summer, every Tuesday is buy one get one free provided you use points ! That I found interesting considering that summer is the busy season.

I'll probably go there again this week to continue my education in Hold Em.

Foxwoods #2 is a good description in many ways...

Except in many ways foxwoods IS really superior than MS now...

1. Free Play way better at FW now then MS for same CI
2. Lounge access-- lose OR WIN (yes, win!) big (~$5K) at FW and get newport lounge acces (win anything at MS and get zilch)
...

and many more *stupid* perks., where FW > MS. Sigh

I guess MS is really #2 now.

Wait-- one exception, comp rate in poker room is higher at MS then FW
AND there is food service at the tables (at MS).

Make that 2 (exceptions)
