A Curious Question Re: Lowering Playing Denomination

How " hard" do you think it would be for an $-$$ player to become a
quarter player and how would "you" go about doing it? This player is
adequately bankrolled at the higher levels.

Not sure I understand the question - the way to do it is to play quarter machines instead of dollar machines. If you are asking how to maintain current coin-in, obviously you need to play 4 times as much. If you are asking how to adjust psychologically, I can tell you from experience (had to scale down after retirement) that it is less thrilling as the ups and downs are far less, and hitting hi-pay hands such as quads, SF, and RF is not as big a deal, and in fact quads seem underpaid, which of course they are not.

Finally, and obviously I would think, there are often fewer full-pay machines available at lower denominations - but not always.

If you have an adequate bankroll for the higher levels and play them skillfully, I don't see why you would WANT to move down.

=============

The main reason that I dropped down from the $2 level
to 25c positive games for awhile recently was to
eliminate frequent 4 figure loss days, which I didn't
enjoy. After a few months of profitable and enjoyable
25c play, I've moved back up to the $1 level to get a
higher EV / hour.

Yes it is the psychological/emotional aspect that I am interested in.

I'm in AC so I'm playing 9/6 Jacks. I'm adequately bankrolled its
just that at my current level( mostly $$), I'm tired of going
through some of those $1-2,000 session losses. I say to myself who
needs it? I enjoy playing VP and if I move down to quarters those
really bad sessions when nothing hits won't bother me as much and
there will be less paperwork at tax time. Yes, I know that my offers
will also diminish but basically all I care about is some free food.
I rarely stay overnight anymore, since there is basically nothing to
do but to gamble in AC. Also , since I've recently picked up my play
to the $2 level I'm still not getting any big ticket offers so why
put more at risk? I would play at the higher levels only during my
Las Vegas vacas since when I'm there I would want room ,food and
perhaps a show. My original post was my wondering how does a
player "handle" a $31 quad when they use to be $125/250 etc. ?
