It would seem not many folks are actually answering the question. So here
goes.
I got my first Royal in Clubs at the Barbary Coast in July of 1998. I was
really dumb back then and had only been playing VP a short while. I asked
the change girl who paid me what was customary as a tip. She responded
"$40", so dummy that I was, I gave her $40. I have this naive quality that I
like to think people are truthful and honest. I know, it is a character
fault, too trusting. This was on a $1000 Royal mind you. Since those days,
I generally tip $10 or 1%, but as you know, I have saved a lot of tips for a
while.
If I get deuces, and it is a handpay, I give $2. I do not tip for fills or
change or cashouts...for crying out loud, they are doing their job.
By the way, that change girl is still at the Barbary and I avoid her like the
plague. Actually I have not played at the Barbary because of very
uncomfortable seats, too much smoke, and coin droppers. Yes I confess, I
love TITO. Shirl in Las Vegas who is moving next week into a house.
