AHA!!!!!!!! The short coin effect!!!!!! Mark, the short coin effect didn't
cross my mind when I read your original post. The short coin effect can
be huge in spots and I think you found one. Short coiners contribute to
the meter or meters but do not qualify for the extra pay when they make
the hand simply because they are short coining. I made a post not long
ago about the short coin effect on meters at the 4 Queens. My
conclusion was there are far, far more short coiners in the VP world
than I ever imagined.
With this inew information in hand a plausible scemaro is the royal
meter is very strong, like 2% or 3%, maybe stronger, but most of the
action on the bank is short coin, driving up the meter. More than likely,
this is what is going on. Meter strength magnifies the short coin effect.
I've seen royal meters as high as 5%. Harveys at the Lake used to have
a 10's or better bad pay (like 90%) game for quarters that had a 5%
royal meter. They also had the same game in a BIG Bertha for dollars
with a 5% meter. It got locked up when it got high enough.
Now, just as sure as the sun comes up, some big bankrolled hustler is
making plans to take the cruise and look for and payoff an employee to
keep him posted on the royal amount. He'll plan on bringing a team.
And just as sure as the sun comes up he's gonna find out someone else
is already doing it. BTW, it's a wide open royal draw, Mark. Good luck.

It is now at about $11,200. My observation is that of
the eight machines hooked up to it, only 3 at any one
time is actually playing full coin. A LOT of short
players (no pun intended). Thank you for the data. I
won a slot tourney on board earlier this week, so I
have unexpected $$$ to chase the impossible dream.
Cozumel was great today (did I mention the cruise was
free, too? Won it in Harrahs Ak-chin),
