I was going to put "Tactful Suggestions for Players" in the subject line but
I didn't want this to seem to be a parody of misscraps' excellent "tactful
suggestions for casino executives".
These thoughts have been simmering for quite a while & finally reached a boil
when I got my POV.
One coupon was missing that I was really looking forward to. It was the
double point coupon for NYNY. In a way, I wasn't surprised as I'm sure a
number of LVA subscribers probably used it on a stay & pounded the hell out
of it for one day & then played minimally or not at all for the rest of the
stay. As is usual, the ones who don't push the limits of greed are
subsidizing the ones who do. A good friend of mine, said it was NYNY's fault
for not putting a limit on it. Maybe so but I don't buy it as this is akin to
saying that your legal standards are good enough to be your moral standards.
In any case, here are the resolutions:
1. Use coupons but, for heaven's sake, give the casino some additional play.
2. If you get an unrestricted comp, use it with discretion.
3. If you've got more comp points than you can use, forget mooching for
freebies.
4. If you're a smoker, drinker, etc. use the ashtrays, garbage cans, etc. Do
not substitute coin hoppers, coin buckets, etc.
5. Check your statements. Hotel, credit card, etc. It's a tight economy so
"additional" charges put on accidentally are more common. Don't get upset
when it's in their favor because you don't make a fuss when it's in yours.
6. Acknowledge good service.
7. Treat casino employees the way you'd like to be treated. They're people,
not servants. If they were your servants, you'd better be paying FUI, SUI &
work comp.
