We were at the Orleans yesterday and tried to get a comp from host
Connie for a coffee shop meal. Last time my husband and I played
there, we each had played on the order of $15,000 each in 1 day.
(Most play was NOT on FP VP machines by the way, so that had nothing
to do with it.)
We were told we couldn't get a coffee shop comp because her hands
were tied, and now the Orleans was requiring about $60,000 through
per month, on a consistent basis for a descretionary comp.
(Apparently it didn't matter which restaurant you wanted, or whether
you had played all on 1 day or evenly on 30 days, or which sort of
machine you were playing.)
That seems ridiculous to me, since if I'd played $20,000-30,000
through on 1 day I probably would get RFB at most strip casinos,
including top-notch ones like the Mirage, based on my previous
experience. And certainly $15,000-20,000 play at someplace like
Harrahs gets me a dinner comp plus great offers that include 3
nights, slot tournaments, and sometimes even such things as Elton
John/Billy Joel tickets (upcoming promotion for example).
At Barbary Coast people were getting RFB for $10,000-20,000 per day
play.
By the way, Gold Coast is still giving discretionary comps for every
$20,000 in play. We just got $50 for Ping Pang Pong tonight.

Guess you can figure out which casino won't be getting much if any
play from us from now on.
