Ok, here is the deal now. The state sent me a form (AU-524) to get filled out by 'the retailer', (Oh Yea), which I then send back to the state for the tax refund. Now you know, that the store is not going to sign anything that is going to admit that they have charged a illegal tax on these bars. This is just some silly state paper, which as usual, makes everything more complicated than it should have to be. Fat chance I will ever get a refund on this, as she made it sound like I was at a dead end if this paper was not filed out by the owner or manager of the store. I talked to a Revenue Examiner for several minutes and explained that I thought there would be no way the store manager would sign this paper, as it would mean many other people would be bringing the same papers in and it might mean a problem for them in the future as a sort of admission of wrong doing.
I might just take it to the store and see what they say or do, but I sure don't expect they will fill in their part and sign it. The state now knows we are being charged the tax, it has been paid to the state for quite some time now, and basicly, it seems they are making it difficult to get our money back, they probably don't want to give the money back as the state 'needs it'. (if everyone who bought the bars requested a refund, it would mean thousands of dollars)
