in various places and it mentioned that Bellagio had a $5000 coin slot. I
have seen a $1000 but never a $5000. Is this is highest deno slot around?
What is the highest VP around? Must be a bore to play...every hit is a W2.

Can't say I've ever played at such heady levels (much less a "lowly"
$25 machine for that matter), but I imagine that they keep the play
pretty lively and entertaining. Suffice it to say that you wouldn't
want for attention (or any company you might happen to desire

This reminds me of some 100 play multi-denom. machines that I saw in
Tunica, MS last year. The machines had really gosh-awful pay tables,
so nothing to get excited about, but the denomination choices went
all the way up to a dollar. That's $500 per spin at max. coins!
That means in a JOB game, every dealt trips or better, along with
some dealt two pairs - depending on the draw - would result in a W2-G
hit. Mississippi would love that, since the state takes out a 3%
NONREFUNDABLE tax on W2-G wins.

I realize this isn't VP but I know many VP ers also play Blackjack.
There is a side bet at a local casino for blackjack. It pays 9 to one if
your first two cards and the dealers up card make a straight, three of a
kind, flush, or straight flush. I really enjoy playing blackjack at
the table that offers this side bet because it slows the play way down and
I can count more easily. But sometimes I get nasty looks from the other
players when I don't do the side bet. (especially when I would have won
and they lose.)
How bad is this bet?
It's your $$. Tell them (nicely) to mind their business or else put
thier $$ in your side game spot if they really want to play it. Don't
let losers make you one.

My calculations assume a single deck (which is likely not the case at
a blackjack game). I assume you win 9 units if you win the bet and
lose 1 unit when you lose. As you would suspect, this bet is pretty
bad! (See below) The odds might improve somewhat for multiple decks
since it's easier to get trips and flushes, but probably not enough
to make it a decent bet. I agree with Michael -- ignore the losers.

Their pig-headed taxation rule is precisely the reason we no longer
play in Tunica. ML and I made 5 or 6 Tunica trips a year prior to
this onerous tax which makes .50 and up vp unplayable. I doubt that
they realize how many mid and high rollers they have forever lost due
to this incredibly stupid decision.

Your prsuppositions are bacically correct. But this is on a six deck shoe.
I tried to explain to someone that it was taking a good blackjack game with
a 1/2% edge to a game with a huge advantage for the casino.
What is the edge? Am I reading this correct? Only a 13% chance of
winning?
