I finally saw this game progressive with royal starting at $4000 and 5
aces starting at $6000. 3 different pay schedules.
Does anyone have strategy for it or EV ??
5 aces
WHERE?
A lot of us wondering about a strategy. The addition of the Ace of
Stars confounds the existing software. Hard to commit much bankroll
to a game where you are "winging it" on strategy.
I'm treating it like DDB as far as holding Ace alone when other high
cards are also present and tossing other pairs to hold AA. and I
imagine holding AAA only when dealt AAA + pair is proper too. I'm
talking about the "jacks or better" mis-labelled 5-Aces game which is
more like a Bonus poker paytable.

I think I can give ya'll a strategy if you want. I can't guarantee it
to be accurate, but if you guys or somebody else will hand calculate
some of the lines to check it, then maybe we can come up with
something we can believe in.
It's from a program I wrote (before I knew there were cheap
commercial programs available) to calculate strategies on other games
like JOB and Joker Poker, and I was just fooling with and it looks
like I only need to add 2 lines of code to make the 5 aces game work.
I have checked the results for JOB and Joker against WinPoker and
TomSki numbers that I've seen posted, and my program matches those
exactly. But again, like I say, I'll be changing code to make it work
for this game and there's always a chance of mistakes. [fineprint: I
hereby disclaim all responsibility for the financial consequences of
any such mistakes. /fineprint]
What pay table should I use? I'll go to that web site and use that
one if I don't hear back from you first.

Same tables as 2 machines in Peppermill_Reno. Good to go!
Thanks in advance for sharing the strategy results of your program, blaw.
If you can calc an overall EV for each game, we'll take that too.
This is great! uncharted territory.
