4 to a royal

My question is also - how many times do u end up with 4 to a royal - but no
royal. This seems to happen a lot to me! My husband tried to figure out the
numbers but this was so complicated he could t find an exact answer - can
any of you???

52 cards - the 5 you are dealt = 47
In single line VP with 4 to a royal you will get the royal 1 in 47
times. 46 misses will seem like a lot.

It's roughly 90 to 92 times per royal. By now, I just laugh at people
who say they "almost" hit a royal. If you're 1 mile into a 92-mile
trip, are you almost there?

That's true, 1 of 47 when you are dealt 4 to a royal
but I think the question was how often you end up with
4 to a royal. So you must add all those times you
kept 1,2, or 3 to a royal and ended up with 4, so the
90-92 might be right but seems a little low to me.

There are 235 combinations of 4RF for each RF. This does not mean you
will end up with all of them between every RF but does give a little
sanity to the odds.

To get this number you simply replace each card in the RF with any of
the other 47 cards. You do this for each card A,K,Q,J,T. So you end up
with 47*5 = 235 possible combinations. Another interesting final hand
is a 4RF straight. In this case each of the 5 cards can be replaced
with the corresponding other 3 cards. This yields 5*3 = 15 times.

The reason you don't end up with them all is that you don't hold cards
to maximize these possibilities. 90-92 seems reasonable to me.

I don't know but I can tell you that in a 4 hour span I had it 19
times. I started recording it - It happen so much that people
aroiund me were talking about how I was "due to hit it" - even a coin
attendant kept coming by and telling me not to leave the machine - she
would watch it if I needed a break because I was just DUE.
I never got it that entire weekend.
Side Note: The following weekend I was playing Db and held the K of
spades and the other 4 popped up.
