Speaking of Reno, can anyone confirm that VPFREE2 is up-to-date with regard to Harrah's JoB and BP vp inventory?

It shows $1 9/6 JoB, but not .25, $2, or $5. But for 8/5 BP, it lists .25, $1, $2, and $5.

Thanks.

Again speaking of Reno, can anybody recommend a good inexpensive car rental place?
Will be in Reno and mostly Lake Tahoe for a week the last week of August.
Would appreciate any help regarding the top things to see and do there.

I didn't not see any .25c BP at all. They do have a $1 progressive but there are only 5 seats... there is JOB $1 (not sure about.25 cents but could be)

Ken asked: Again speaking of Reno, can anybody recommend a good inexpensive car rental place?

I use autoslash.com (originally recommend by Jimmy Jazz on one of his GWAE appearances.)

They search numerous car places and if they can find a cheaper published price between when you book and when you actually travel, they will cancel your original reservation and book you at the new rate.

For the particular trip you're talking about, they have lowered my price three or four times since I originally made it and I'm now with Payless. Hopefully they'll lower it again in the next two weeks

Can't speak to the general Reno population, given limited experience, but the half dozen casinos I've played in Reno certainly count as among the most hospitable I've encountered.

I'm looking forward to some Reno play in advance of the 7* Tahoe Signature Event later this month.

Autoslash is good but they don't always get you the best price. I've put my reservation info on autoslash but have been able to find some better deals on my own. It's a matter of time and convenience, though. You can't beat Autoslash for convenience.

As for Payless, be prepared for a rather aggressive upsell on insurance, bigger car and pre paying for gas. Also, if you join their perks club you get 5% off. I think AARP, Entertainment and a few others give you the same discount but if you join Perks, you get the discount when you sign in.

Also, shop Payless the week of your trip. I have them deeply discount rates right before your pick up date.

carrentals.com is now an Expedia company so their offers haven't been as good as they used to be.

Getting the best rental car rate is a bit of an art and there isn't one site that does it all for you. On the plus side, you can realize significant cost savings by investing a little time and effort.

top things to see and do there? Stroll the Truckee River Walk in downtown Reno. (I'm assuming the river hasn't dried up!)
