In my first 11-ish months playing VP full time, I have had
a pretty good but somewhat strange year. I won't give exact
overall numbers here, but here are some of the tidbits.
I made 10K in a 'free' live poker tournament in which
my expected value going in was probably no more than 200.
( maybe a lot less than that if I have an inflated view
of my poker skills. ) That was a real nice bonus at a time
when the VP was barely showing a profit. Oddly, the key
hand for me was a hand I hate. KJ offsuit.
I only made a $40 profit from my LVA book, but I made
several hundred from the three remaining decent coupons in
a book given to me by one the list members. Thanks JP.
I won almost as much money on games at or below 100.17%
as I did on games with a higher ER. Of course, I only
played those games when some sort of promotion made them
good. The winnings I am referring to are just on the
base game and do not include any promotion or cashback.
I made 32 RF's, not counting nickel multi-line games.
That is about 3 a month. I don't know how many hands of
VP I played, but this number seems pretty reasonable. It
might even be a bit under my expected number.
My winnings from cashback, mailers, drawings and promotions
exceeded the total of my VP winnings.
I made well over half of my profit in the last 4 months,
despite the fact that the poker tournament was in May.
I would not be surprised if my income for 2003 falls by
20-30%. This is because I expect a drop off in the number of
very strong plays and because I will probably be putting
in fewer hours. Fortunately, such a drop off would still
leave me with winnings that exceed my modest living expenses.
