25c RF at Palms

Again, I haven't kept up with posts.

Much to my delight, I got a RF on the 10x 9/6 JOB and it just rang up
automatically. From the first week of the Palms opening, I went to the slot
supervisor to ask the reasoning behind the "handpay" for the RF's under the $1200 IRS
form requirement.

He gave me some very vague excuse about trying to get a handle on how many
royals are hit/day while most of us players thought that it was another way of
having the patrons pay the employees by the benefit of tipping on the hand
pays.

The other consideration is the time waiting to have a hand pay when it is so
great just to press for the next hand. Was this something everyone already
knew?

Actually, I was reading gambling articles today. It appears that in NJ
the machine is required to lockup when it hits the highest jackpot, if
I've read correctly. Possibly some machine manufacturers use that
behavior in NV as well so that they can re-use the code.

I was told at one casino - a MAJOR name - that the reason was to
show customer service and good will. Later a supervisor of another
popular casino said that many casinos do it to justify the personnel
and yes primarily to get tips. That eventually owners and corps
will stop doing it. This same supervisor said that if the IRS
changes the limits (like is rumored) - then there will be alot of
layoffs.

I suspect that the actual statute is that a machine featuring a
secondary decision, such as video poker, must lock up when a top
jackpot is represented on the initial play (e.g. a dealt RF).

However, Anteroz's comment was directed to the fact that after hitting
a $.25 RF at the Palms recently, the credits went directly to the
meter and their was no lock up for a hand pay. Apparently, that's not
always been true there. I've seen some quarter AC TITO machines that
lockup on a drawn royal for a hand pay, but most just add the credits
to the meter.

It's a neat thing to see 4000 credits run up on a machine with TITO
(some machines roll them up individually, some add it in one chunk).
It's also anticlimatic. Without the surprise of the bells before you
even realize what you have, it's just not the same thrill.

Happy to hear about the RF on the 10 play, but it isn't casino wide .Passing thru on Saturday I saw a lock up on a single line 25c RF.

This doesn't always happen. I saw someone get a royal on those machines this week and the machine locked up. Not sure whether some machines are set differently than others. This person's $1000 royal put him over $1200 total credits - that may be a reason for the difference.

I hit a royal on those machine several weeks ago when I was just collecting my Free Play. I was talking (surprise) to someone and almost missed seeing it. Brad drew it to my attention. I probably would have noticed it eventually - seeing my credits at such a high level!!! But I do like some bells and whistles when I get a royal, even if it only $1000.

I'll take it.

That's one reason I'm rather fond of TITO Bally Gamemakers. They at
least ring the bell for a brief 2 seconds when a quarter royal is hit.
Frankly, there's just something nice about having someone next to you
realize your fine hit and congratulate you
