OK, I know I am going to create a "firestorm" here but:
Richard said: "the techs said the chip was too loose and
they shut down the machine to put in a "tighter" chip. So,
that means the VP pay table is controlled by the chip and
not random.

OK...I admit I'm really confused. I thought the RNG was....well, Random! Changing the chip can "loosen" or "tighten" the randomness? Are you being facetious...or am I just that gullible? Speaking of "chip"...does it contain the RNG?...does the chip change the way the RNG operates?...or is the chip the RNG? If you are joking, then the laugh is on me! But, my sanity and peace of mind dictated I ask these questions.

I'm sure when the tech's referred to a tighter or looser "chip" they
really mean a chip with a tighter or looser game. My guess is that
they wanted to install NSUD instead of FPDW.

I like how put the story in his group like he didn't know damn well
he was playing a machine with a big edge. Why not just continue and
say when CP realized they had put in FPDW they shut the machine
down. Richard only plays machines when he is playing for drawing
tickets or promotions and he realizes he has the best of it.

I found the article irritating, some rich guy nails two RF's on an $100

been much more satisfying if it had been an AVP player. Still that is
interesting Mr. Bigshot requests a $100 deuces machine where you only
play 3 coins. Perhaps they sent someone out to a warehouse somewhere
and they found one and brought it back and set it up. Maybe everyone
should stop by high limit area's with the same sort of requests,
heehee, fat lot of good that would do me. Actually it wouldn't suprise
me if more than one of these things were out there. After all who
would even look at the paytables on a $100 machine if you were scoping
the high limit room?

Many of the techs don't know enough about the inner workings to say
things that are quite right...
I suspect the tech meant (even if he did not realize it) that they had
installed a program with a looser pay-table than had been intended.
If the machine/chip were old enough, it is entirely possible the only
game on the chip was FPDW, so a completely new chip would have to be
put into the machine to change games.

I'm sure you're right. Casinos have been known to set up machines for favored high-rollers, but $100 FPDW? Uh, I don't think so. I guess my comment was a little too subtle. There's no doubt he knew exactly what he was playing (and they didn't).

What do you mean by "set up machines"......changing the chip to a better pay table than usual or changing to an RNG that has a different seed assigned so it will, say for example.... generate more wild deuces over a period of time......I have cut and pasted the link that describes how a random_seed varible can be changed to change the outcome of the RNG.

They have been known to set up a machine with a particular game at a particular denomination. In this case, it looks like he asked for 3-coin $100 NSU but got FPDW instead. Sweet...(Hey Richard, does that thing have a hemi?)

Hi Skip
Not long after Mirage opened I remember a big player, I believe on a
$100 slot. The house had a couple people on duty to attend to his
needs; drinks, smokes, hot towels etc. Of course, there were a couple
suits tending to the action too; markers, tokens, dinner or even
shopping trip for the wife or girlfriend. After shaking the cobwebs
didn't want to play it anymore. I think it was my slot host, Harry,
who told me the house had to have a house player play the couple slots
the BP was playing. But house player had to play only after the BP had
some nice wins. The BPs theory was the machine had to be built up with
$$ and he didn't want to do the building. I don't imagine they could
do such a thing today as to the corporate structures of the casinos
today.
I think I'm remembering right, but it's been so long it might just be
a dream.
Cheers....Jeep

How many times have you heard, I hit the jackpot on my first play.
So I developed the first play vp strategy. I went to Vegas and
played a thousand machines one play. My strategy; it's a well known
fact that machines hit more often on first play.
Strategy didn't work. Next time I go to gamble I think I'll take
300 and develop the last three token strategy. Seems like a
primising strategy.
Your right, hobo catching the royal would be a nice story.
Did you hear about the guy who put his entire life savings on red
for one spin of roulette. It comes up black. The guy walks away,
shrugs his shoulders and says, "Easy come easy go."
Cheers
