I wonder if you remember when King Richard Daly, the 1st, ran the
Dem organization (then called the "machine"......because it ran like
a well oiled machine) and more deceased folks were on the voting
roles, than their live counterparts. Everyone of those poor dead
folks was resurrected on Election Day. Everyone was also a Democrat,
and cast his/her vote for the machine candidate. Daly did know how
to keep the schools running, the snow plowed, and the city strike-free,
The best kind of benevolent dictator!
The only time he went just a tad too far, and some citizens
complained, was when he told the city police to "Shoot To Kill" any
obstreperous demonstrator (against the Viet Nam war) during the
Democratic Presidential Convention in 1968.
Oh, the good old days!
