2004 Results

This is the third year I kept a gambling log and it's fun to review the past year performance. I view a session as a day since I jump around on the games played. Also I just estimate the hands played like if all was single line at a reasonably high rate (850 hands/hour).

For 2004:
291 hours played
235,000 hands, 4 royals
0.38% return (i.e. profit)
0.9 % comped (% of total coin in)

First half of the year I couldn't miss. 2nd half was a disaster. 17 sessions and only 2 winning sessions (days).

Leave for Vegas on Thursday of first session of 2005.

How did everyone else do?

This was our first year "full-time". I do VP usually
99.7% or better. My wife, however, God bless her, does
slots and triple bonus aces ya-ya, etc type of VP.

I played over 250,000 draws , about 750,000 hands
(triple play).

I am at 1.01% return for the year.

My dear sweet wife is at 91% return for 2004.

I am trying to convince her to just play roulette :slight_smile:

2005 will be the first year I keep a separate ledger for VP. In
2004, it got combined in with blackjack and craps play, as I kept a
separate ledger for live poker. But knowing in 2004 that I had 432
sessions (a session being loosely defined as leaving and returning
to my residence), and knowing that I had one Royal in all those
sessions, I would be willing to bet that 2004 was a losing VP year
for me. But at least it was a banner year for my sleeper stock
Aristocrat.

2004 was not a good year for us. Actual gambling losses were a tad
over $11,000 but was offset by almost $4,000 in cash back and coupons
(they do add up). Probably another $5K in comps but I count the year
as a net loss of $7K.

It is good to keep logs and records. By reviewing past years where we
had good wins, this one doesn't seem so bad.

Off to Las Vegas tomorrow where we expect to make up last years losses
in 6 days of non-stop "gamble till you puke" action. :wink:

million games played, was there a negative reaction at the casinos
where you play?

Not at all. It is split over three casinos, basically.
I have stopped gambling in one since they dropped
NSUD. When I go there for dinner, the casino host asks
what he can do to get my play back. I tell him to
bring back the NSUD!

But I think it is really my wife's play they miss.
